Cottage 2

Cottage 2 works well for families or groups wanting to base themselves near York without the city expense. The property sleeps eight across two bedrooms—one with a double and three singles, the other with three singles—plus a shower room. Downstairs is open-plan living and dining with a kitchen equipped for proper cooking: electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave and two fridge-freezers. A travel cot and highchair are available if needed. Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are included, and there's parking for four cars on site. One well-behaved pet is welcome.

The cottage sits in countryside roughly five miles from York's centre, so you get peace but also quick access to the minster, Castle Museum, Jorvik Viking Centre and the city's restaurants and shops. Walking trails start from the door. The North York Moors National Park is within reach for longer excursions, and the coast at Whitby, Scarborough and Filey is about an hour's drive. Stately homes, market towns and the heritage steam railway are all nearby. No smoking indoors. Check-in is after 15:00 and checkout before 10:30.
