About Travelodge York Monks Cross

Set among the shops and eateries of Monks Cross Shopping Park on the edge of York, Travelodge York Monks Cross gives easy access to retail, dining and a park and ride service into the city centre, useful for anyone wanting to explore the historic streets without driving in and parking there.

The hotel has 80 rooms across three floors, each with an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning and drinks available in the room, with accessible rooms also on offer. A restaurant and bar serve meals on site, and the breakfast is generously served with a good range of options. Wifi is provided throughout, though it can be patchy at times. Free parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis, including six accessible bays, and there's an electric vehicle charging point.

Staff are noted for being friendly and helpful, and beyond the shopping park itself there's a golf course nearby along with further pubs, restaurants and entertainment. It suits a straightforward overnight stop near York's shops and attractions rather than a destination in itself.

First the good points: very quiet at night, excellent location (nearby food, shopping, P&R to city nearby and quick into town), lots of parking. Good to know: very low shower water pressure (should have installed pumps when being built), extremley noisy AC: sounds like a sewing machine going at max speed! Standard rooms are small with a tiny bathroom (larger people will have problems sitting on the toilet as it is squeezed between the bathroom door and the basin), need to ask for hairdryer at reception, hard bed, no room to open a suitcase (open in entrance hall and then slide under bed), room hot as window only opens a little so fan is useless. Wifi is extra! No signal on EE network, even for calls. Vodafone worked though. For £104 without breakfast (due to Pride I guess) not worth it. We (and a few others) had breakfast at the pub across the car park as we only wanted a light bite not the buffet. Tips: Get a family room, even if you are a couple. They are bigger. Would I stay here again? Probably not, unless a lot cheaper.

Stayed here for work and honestly found the location really convenient. It’s just off the A64 and surrounded by loads of handy places like Sainsbury’s, Lidl, Asda, McDonald’s and Taco Bell. A great place to stay if you prefer somewhere quieter and away from the busy city centre. The rooms were clean and well maintained, and the beds and bathrooms were neat and comfortable. I always book with breakfast, and it was spot on — a proper full British breakfast 😊 Only downside was the WiFi, as you have to pay extra for it, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, a really good and comfortable stay. Would definitely stay again.

First time in a Travelodge Hotel, we won't do it again. The price was ok and the good point, free parking, easy acces to York. The room is very small, the window did not close, the air con did not work, strange smell in the bathroom. Breakfast was ok. Wifi has to be paid after 30 minutes.

Generally good experience. We opted for the breakfast included and the food was alright. My only complaint holding it from 5 stars was the lack of WiFi access. I understand WiFi access being limited to guests only, but even if you are a guest you only get 1 hour free per day and after that you have to pay. For the price of the rooms this should be included.
