Cute little guest house right on the river - just 3 minutes walk from the train station and less than 10 into the heart of the tourist part of town. Best location possible! The rooms were cozy and beds were comfortable - I slept great! Martyn was super friendly and left great recommendations in a binder in the room. Overall exceptional value!

Just had a stay here for three nights. Honestly couldn't fault it. Friendly service on arrival and our room was lovely with a nice view of the river, all be it flooded, while we there which added to the view really. Lol. Ideally positioned with just a short walk into the town but no too close so it's nice and quiet. It's close to the railway station, which is handy, and the noise wasn't an issue at all. You can also park your car for an extra, small, charge which means you can just park up and not worry about parking for the rest of your stay. Highly recommended and we will definitely return on our next trip to York.

What a cute, quaint, and well-located guesthouse! We stayed in York for 3 nights in between our Edinburgh and London trip. The location is fantastic - we had to walk less than 5 minutes from the train on a pathway directly to the guesthouse, and less than a 5-10 minute walk right into town. Overlooking the water and watching rowing boats and city cruises go by was lovely, and fall was the perfect time to visit. The staff was lovely and attentive. There was a downstairs guest room that we utilized to eat dinner and work from our laptops. The rooms itself were fine and had everything we need. They were a little hot but we opened the windows and used a fan to cool us down. Overall, we'd definitely stay here again. Thank you!

I didn’t want to leave! Abbey Guest House exceeded my expectations. I was welcomed into the home by George, the owner’s son, who explained everything thoroughly and gave insight into the surrounding area. The room itself was spacious, windows that opened to allow fresh air in, plenty of room to hang your clothes, a refrigerator in the room with bottled water, which was much appreciated as well as the kettle with coffee, tea and snacks. The bathroom had a huge bathtub and shower. Plenty of hot water and good pressure. The room itself was spotless. Bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows. Lighting in the room was very good. There is a train that runs by the house but it doesn’t run late at night or too early in the morning and really isn’t that loud or intrusive. I had a view at the back of the house over a parking area and a greenway. The house actually fronts on the River Ouse and there is a lovely river walk to city center. Walking from here to the Minster is 13 minutes, to the local Sainsbury grocer is seven minutes, very centrally located. From the train station it’s a five minute walk. I would definitely stay here again - highly recommend.
