About Diamonds Guest House

Bishopthorpe Road puts Diamonds Guest House among a stretch of independent shops and eateries just south of York's centre, with York Castle Museum less than a mile away. It's a quiet residential setting that still leaves the city's attractions within easy reach.

The guest house has eight rooms, each kept clean and reasonably spacious, with comfortable beds, a mini-fridge, and a good supply of tea and coffee. Breakfast is served on site, and there's a restaurant and bar for evening meals or a drink, plus a garden to sit out in. Free WiFi and air conditioning are provided throughout, and staff offer luggage storage and a straightforward remote check-in process. One point worth flagging: some guests have found the in-room cooker unreliable, so it's not a place to count on for self-catering.

There's no parking available at the property, so this suits guests arriving by train or without a car. Pets are welcome, and the surrounding area has plenty of pubs, restaurants and entertainment within walking distance.

My partner and I stayed for 2 nights during the week and we absolutely loved our stay. Very easy remote check in, the room was lovely, bright and spacious, the bed was comfy with decent pillows. There was a decent sized kettle, cups and fridge with as much coffee tea and milk as you wanted. The location was fantastic a good 15 minute walk into the centre all the way along the city wall. Excellent bus route with buses every hour, sainsburys and cafés are a few minutes walk away. We would definitely stay here again.

We just came back a room at the top with three beds .out of the city centre so we got a Uber back to the accomodation was difficult to find at first as we walked from train station .I'd stop here again. As it was very quiet Shower was small but it was very nice. nice big bathroom no service as it was self accomodation there was a kettle in the room with coffee and tea bottles of water for our teas and coffee and a kitchen downstairs for meals to bring in so we just sorted ourselves out never saw any staff had trouble opening the door as it was no coded till we got in The room and our card was there when left today had to post our card in the postbox provided .like I said we would come back again if we were ever in York again

Dirty and smelly place. No staff to assist with any type of info or issues you might have while staying there. I needed some water for my baby, went down to the kitchen. When opened my room's door, a smell of fried fish was all over the building to the point I couldn't breath for how bad it was. Disgusting and made me feel almost sick. To be fair the day we arrived and we were welcomed by a lady, the place hadn't a nice smell either. I was about to leave due to stains on my bed sheets. And mattresses with springs right on your back. How could you keep a place in such a bad status? Travelled so many times, and this was definitely the worst place I have ever been. The room was big enough but I would never book it again, not even for free. Stay away please!!!!!!

This is the weirdest guesthouse I’ve ever stayed in. I didn’t feel like much of a “guest”. There was nobody to welcome me. I had to ring a phone number on the door and let myself in with a code. The room that I stayed in had 5 one person beds stuffed into one room, and a queen in the next room. It was weird. None of the beds had bedside lamps, adding to the general feeling that the hosts did not care about their guests. I never saw any professional staff, just some guys in the dining area at some point. I suggest you rebrand your guesthouse as a hostel, as that is essentially what it is. And also alter the price to reflect that.
