Staff were friendly and welcoming.we were allowed to store our luggage before official check in time, which was helpful. Check in process was easy enough. Hotel location is brilliant. Less than 10 minutes walk into York city centre, right near the Minster. Room was perfectly adequate for a short stay. It was very neat and tidy and spotlessly clean. It had lovely little extras like tea/coffee making facilities, bottled water and a small fridge which was handy. It also had a hairdryer, television and a fan and a heater so good for all weathers. Please note that if you require an ironing board and iron you must ask for it as it's not in the room. Bathroom was fine, shower worked very well and some toiletries provided. Could benefit from a bathmat for getting out the shower, but otherwise good. We would definitely recommend Diamonds Inn to other people and we will stay again next time we visit York. Very good stay.

location is great and the staff are sooo friendly and nice, they let me store my bag the next day. comfortable room just the floorboards are a little creaky (its an old building) so you can hear upstairs guests walking around at 11pm, if you are noise sensitive like me unplug the mini fridge too. would absolutely stay again!

Used to think the classic chain hotels are the best. But this place really surpised me. Home away from home feeling. The tv is a smart one so you have youtube, Netflix Disney etc just simply login. Very cozy and simplistic style. Again as said its like home away from home. Very clean. Carpet is new I think. They have mini fridge too which big hotels dont these days. Coffee tea kettle etc aswell. They even have a portable heater as well as central heating and a portable fan for summer. And hair dryer. The lady here is especially kind and joyful. Support them I believe its a family run business

The check in process was to say the least complicated, but it did work so I suppose I can't say anything negative about it. The room itself (Room 8) was great - clean and comfortable, but it did remind me that not having en-suite facilities is not ideal. Best of all is the location - literally minutes walk to the city centre and seconds to 2 really good pubs (Keystones & Black Horse) and a better than average Indian restaurant (Viceroy). Breakfast at the Double Tree (again seconds away) is also highly recommended.
