This ancient and beautiful church is truly a hidden gem of York. The historic church, dating back several hundred years, is hidden behind Goodramgate Street, offering a tranquil and charming atmosphere that feels like a journey back in time. Inside, the remarkable preservation of historical details—such as ancient stained glass, original wooden pews, and exquisite medieval architecture—fills every corner with rare stories and unique character. It is a perfect place for reflection and appreciating history. A small cemetery surrounds the site, making it worth a visit and even ringing the bell for peace if you have the chance! There is no entrance fee. Free WiFi is available, I met some great volunteers who answered questions sincerely by the way and it is highly recommended for those who love art, culture, and quiet places.

Little church with centuries of alterations and building. Set on the heart of the bustling medieval centre of York, accessed though ancient alleyways of a gate that's 300 years old. Take a seat in the peaceful yard and take a minute of reflection. The church is very quirky and has features from the medieval period, though to the Georgian box pews at a funny angle. Free to enter bit please leave a donation.

Beautiful medieval church hidden away in the center of York. The volunteers are a real credit to the place which helps make the visit al the more enjoyable. Easy to miss even though it's location is very central so make sure you keep your eyes open.

We were invited in when passing by in the evening, as they had an open event on inside the church for the public. The church is beautiful inside, very historic with many of the original features still up and intact. We were shown and told details of the church by the hosts/guides, such as a gravestone from the 12th century and carvings from people in the furniture from over 300 years ago. It was such a cute little detour and I really appreciated the invite as well as letting me take photographs inside, thank you!
