Dear General Manager, I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my recent stay at the Holiday Inn York on Tadcaster Road. We stayed at your hotel while attending the races and, as expected during such a busy event, paid a premium rate for our room. Given the price we paid, we expected a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Unfortunately, this was not the case. As we checked in quite late after a long day at the races, we were looking forward to a good night’s sleep. Instead, the air conditioning unit in our room leaked water continuously throughout the night, soaking the carpet beneath it. The constant dripping noise and the worry about the leak significantly disturbed our sleep. In addition, we found the hotel itself to be tired and dated, which was disappointing and did not reflect the premium price we had paid. I would like to acknowledge that the breakfast the following morning was excellent. It was the one part of our stay that met our expectations, and we are more than happy to pay for that. Unfortunately, it did not make up for the poor night’s sleep and the overall disappointing condition of the hotel. Overall, the quality of our stay fell well below the standard we expected from Holiday Inn, particularly at an inflated event rate.

Enjoyed our 5 nights stay. Plenty of parking and easy access to drive from to see the sights around York. Buses out side door to York Centre , so you can avoid the high parking fees of the city . Hotel not in heart of York so did not have to contend with the terrible city traffick and road closures due to the msny construction jobs. Found York itself beautiful and it was best to walk in or catch a bus.

This hotel is the definition of value for money. It gives you what need for a affordable price. We found the hotel to be placed on a large plot of land, surrounded by grass and our room (view photo 5) was full of nature. The beds in our rooms were soft and really comfortable to sleep in. The staff was kind and really lovely, and were keen to help you with any questions. We found that during our stay, Rebecca was the kindest staff member there. The buffet breakfast had a massive choice of different foods, warm drinks or juices. There’s a large seating area so it’s also early to find a seat.

We recently stayed here with our miniature dachshund, super lovely staff - place was nice and clean. Addition of parking was great, £15 extra per night for our dog to stay is completely reasonable and we were happy to pay. We sat in the bar area for breakfast as we had our dog but that was fine as wasnt far at all from the breakfast buffet, which was a great spread! Super happy and will likely stay here again when visiting York! 😊
