We had an amazing stay here! Great location and really reasonably priced. Nice pub and lovely little sun trap of a beer garden. The staff are fantasic, super friendly and really goo out of their way to make you feel welcome and happy. The room was really clean and the beds were super comfy. The breakfast was gorgeous too. 100% would stay here anytime I come to York.

The Gillygate Inn describes itself as a pub with rooms. We stayed here for 3 nights in January 2026. The party consisted of my husband, myself and our family dog. We stayed in the anex/garden room as we had our dog. The room was a little small, but perfectly adequate, and very clean. It was warm enough, in fact we turned the heating down at one stage despite the cold outside. The bathroom however was tiny, with just enough space to turn around. Again it was clean and warm. Hence only 4 stars for the room The staff were unbelievably helpful and couldn't do enough for us. We stayed on a B&B basis. The inn doesn't serve food, but provided breakfast, with as much tea/coffee/juice as you want. The location couldn't have been better. Back to back with the city walls, 5 minutes walk or 7 minutes saunter from the front doors of the minster. Overall we had a fabulous stay, in fact we have booked again for later in the year, knowing that more than likely we will be in the same/similar room. Very much recommend.

Stayed here for the viking festival in February. Good location. The room was big enough for the 2 of us although the bathroom was quite small.Hubby struggled getting himself into the shower ! the sink is tiny. But it served us well.Must say the mattress was rather dirty.Staff were lovely and so was the breakfast

Enjoyed my stay, will stay again . my room was lovely and clean and spacious, had everything I needed and more .The bed was perfect and cosy .The staff where helpful and informative to ♥️
