Belfrey House

This 1606 townhouse occupies one of York's most central locations, a few minutes' walk from the Minster and surrounded by the city's oldest streets. Built as reportedly the first house after the Minster's completion, it retains period character across its four storeys while functioning as a practical base for eight guests. The layout spans from a kitchen with full cooking and washing facilities on the ground floor, through a living room on the first floor, to four bedrooms distributed across the upper levels—including a four-poster double and three further beds in various configurations. Two bathrooms and a separate toilet serve the property, with heating, electricity, bed linen and towels all included.

The enclosed courtyard provides outside space with garden furniture. Parking is available at a nearby public car park. Shops and pubs are immediately adjacent; restaurants, galleries, the railway museum and Castle Museum all lie within walking distance. The city walls, River Ouse walks and the Shambles are on the doorstep for exploration. Note that the property has open spiral stairs and narrow passages between rooms. Smoking is not permitted.
