About The Parsonage Hotel & Spa

Good food and a well-stocked bar are central to a stay at The Parsonage Hotel & Spa, with a restaurant serving meals throughout the day and room service on hand for those who'd rather not leave their room. Breakfast is included, and free WiFi and drinks in the room round out the practical comforts.

Rooms are described as comfortable and spacious, with en-suite bathrooms as standard, though some have been noted as a little tired in places. The spa is the property's strongest draw, with a warm indoor pool, a large hot tub, and a choice of steam and sauna rooms, plus a gym for those wanting a proper workout. There's also a garden for stepping outside, and free on-site parking for anyone driving in.

The hotel sits in Escrick, North Yorkshire, with a bus service running into York itself, where York Castle Museum is among the sights worth a visit. Golf, fishing and horse riding are all available nearby, and there are pubs and restaurants close by for evenings when guests fancy a change of scene.

stayed here at the weekend with a friend as we were going to an event in York. Lovely building and location. When we arrived it was past the 2pm check in time however our room was not ready. The guy behind reception at the time was lovely and tried to contact housekeeping with no luck. The lady on reception quite abruptly told him to put us in another room as we said we needed to get ready, they made us feel like we were the issue. On the way to the room we asked a member of staff for directions, she showed us to the wrong room and when I asked her again where it was she sighed and showed us the right way. We were in room 66 which is where the fat Abbott is, so on the way to the room I went to ask for some wine glasses and ice because this is what reception told us to do when we asked them for glasses but both requests seemed a bit much as they ‘didn’t have much ice and didn’t have many wine glasses’, I agreed to take the glasses back before we went out which we did (left at reception). Got to the room and it was tiny with a small double bed, much like a box room, the bathroom was actually much more spacious than the room itself, however couldn’t open bathroom window and couldn’t touch the blinds either (sign saying not to touch). Could also do with a bit of touch up on the decor however I must say it was lovely and clean. The room was red hot from the second we walked in and The fan in the wardrobe spat out dust when I knocked it on and it wasn’t much help either. It was so hot through the night we barely slept at all and I actually went and sat outside for a bit at around 2am because it was so stuffy. We went down for breakfast not too longer after it started, so expected to be nice a fresh however the fried eggs were that rubbery I couldn’t eat them, mushrooms cold, bacon barely cooked and a nice big moth on the pastries/bread. I feel like the staff other than the guy at reception and ostyn who was at breakfast could do with a lesson on being a bit less miserable & a bit more approachable. Wouldn’t stay here again as I simply didn’t feel welcome or comfortable, nor were we asked the simple question of ‘how was your stay’ & if I was asked this, then I probably wouldn’t be leaving a review and would’ve dealt with the hotel directly.

Spent 4 nights with friends at the Parsonage Spa hotel, it was beautiful, we all had breakfast each morning and evening meal which were all excellent. Nothing was any trouble to the staff. Bus stop outside hotel into York or to the Designer Outlet. Unfortunately there was not enough time to use the spa but it looked lovely. Give it a try I'm sure you will enjoy it!

Our two families stayed at The Parsonage Hotel & Spa for 3 days, and it was a fantastic experience from check-in to check-out! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious, well-equipped, and featured modern bathrooms. We loved the lovely green gardens, and the kids had a great time playing outside. The breakfast buffet was sumptuous, fresh, and offered variety.Highly recommend this hotel for families looking for an enjoyable holiday near York.
