About Travelodge York Tadcaster

Travelodge York Tadcaster is a low-rise, two-floor budget hotel built for the road traveller, positioned right on the A64 eastbound with direct access for those heading into York or further across North Yorkshire. Its 62 rooms are functional rather than fancy, each with an en-suite bathroom and drinks available in the room, and accessible rooms are available for those who need them.

Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, and the rooms are generally spacious with prices that make the hotel decent value for money. That said, some rooms show signs of wear, and noise can be an issue for light sleepers given the roadside setting. There's no restaurant on site, but eateries are located nearby for meals out.

Practical touches include an electric vehicle charge point and free on-site parking, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Pets are welcome, making this a reasonable stopover for those travelling with animals or simply looking for an uncomplicated base near York.

When traveling around Yorkshire, finding a base that balances affordability with a great location is key, and my recent stay at the Travelodge York Tadcaster did exactly that. As a Local Guide who focuses on "helping you glow for less," I’m always looking for those budget-friendly options that don’t compromise on the essentials, and this hotel is a fantastic example. It’s situated perfectly for anyone looking to explore the historic beauty of York without the premium price tag of staying directly in the city center. The check-in process was incredibly smooth, which is exactly what you need after a long day of driving or sightseeing. The staff were professional and welcoming, maintaining that friendly Yorkshire hospitality that makes such a difference. My room was exactly what I’ve come to expect from the modern Travelodge brand: clean, functional, and surprisingly spacious. The bed was comfortable, providing a great night's sleep, and the room temperature was easy to control—an essential detail that often gets overlooked! One of the biggest perks of this specific location is the accessibility. It’s right off the A64, making it a breeze to get into York or head out toward Leeds. For those looking for value, there are nearby amenities that make grabbing a quick bite or some essentials very easy. Whether you are on a family trip or a solo research mission, this hotel provides a reliable, high-quality "no-frills" experience that keeps your budget intact for the fun parts of your trip. I’ll definitely be keeping this on my list for future Yorkshire adventures

What a terrible stay, first we're in a room where it sounds like someone is banging on the door. We spoke to Ashley and she advised it was a known issue with the plumbing, an air lock apparently. She managed to stop it but by 23:30 it started again and was then like someone constantly banging a drum. Nigel the night porter was helpful and moved us to another room. Around 03:30 we're woken again by the herd of elephants in the room above. We were told we would be moved to another room for our second night. On our return for a second night Ashley gives us the new room key, our bags had been moved as they said they would, excellent. Next problem, dirty bedding left on the floor, bins not emptied and rubbish left on the floor, dirty towels left on the floor in the bathroom. Back to Ashley again, she finds another couple of rooms we can use but decides to check them herself first. More issues with rooms not cleaned from the previous occupants. Finally, Ashley found a room that had been cleaned correctly. TV picture was lousy but we fixed that, don't wrap the aerial lead round the power leads. I can't fault the front of house staff, Ashley went above and beyond to resolve all the issues, Nigel was helpful too, helping us move bags. BUT, the building, maintenance and cleaning teams really drag it down and needs urgent attention.

Clean and basic. Comfy beds and nicely sized rooms. The shower pressure was weak and the location is not the best, but does the job. Staff were friendly and the is car parking at the front.

I had a really pleasant stay at the Travelodge in York, Tadcaster. The hotel was spotlessly clean, and the staff were incredibly polite, they made me feel like part of a family, not just a customer. I arrived a bit early, before the official check-in time, but they let me settle in half an hour early no fuss at all, and even laughed and joked with me, which eased any worries. I was traveling with my brother, we had separate rooms. The rooms were warm and cozy, even with outside temperatures dropping to -1°C over night. The shower had decent pressure, could have been a bit stronger, but still fine. Honestly, no complaints! The only small downside was that the local area didn’t have full meal options. There was a Greggs nearby and a petrol station both walking distance. That said, for a quick overnight stop, it was perfect. Reasonable priced, fantastic service. Travelodge really nailed it for travelers. In my opinion it’s not a place for a long stay but for passing through, it’s spot on! However if you can sort out your meals long term stay is also perfect.
