About Premier Inn York South West
Free on-site parking is one of the practical perks at Premier Inn York South West, a 62-room hotel just off the A64 at Bilbrough Top, around 15 minutes from York city centre with the help of a nearby park and ride link. It's a straightforward base for exploring the city without the hassle or cost of parking in the centre.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, drinks facilities and accessible options where needed, spread across two floors served by a lift. Some of the rooms are on the traditional side and could do with updating, though the beds themselves are a strong point, with many finding them particularly comfortable. A restaurant and bar on site cover breakfast and evening meals, both generally well regarded, and there are further places to eat nearby for those who fancy a change.
Staff are consistently mentioned as friendly and helpful, and the 24-hour reception means arrivals and queries are covered whatever time you land. With York itself close by via the park and ride, this is a hotel built around convenience rather than frills.
What guests say
Not a bad stay, but I feel it did not hit the normal Premier Inn 'standard'. The room was clean and tidy, if a bit dated, the bed was fairly comfortable but did feel a bit old, overall it filled a need at the time. The location is good if you are traveling through for work, which is handy, you can easily hear the road though, and if you want anywhere decent to eat then you need to travel the 15 minutes to York. The 'made to order' breakfast was a real let down, which I ended up leaving half of - the mushrooms were old, wrinkled and dry, the beans were also dried out, I'd say the black pudding wasn't really cooked and the bacon was questionable aswell. The staff were nice and friendly though, so credit to them. I probably wouldn't stay again and I'd likely travel to York centre for a hotel.

You usually know what you’re getting with Premier Inn. Most I’ve stayed in are comfortable, clean, tidy and with a good kitchen. The only differentiation between them are the staff. Here they are so helpful, friendly and flexible. Special shout-out to Alex - after a 14 hour day, the prospect of a late night with England on the TV, and scheduled to start at 7:00 the next morning, she was still smiling, and had time to chat to each table. A credit to your company.

We always stay at Premier Inns, as they are a known quantity, well priced and usually in a good location. York Southwest was well placed for us. The hotel is rather tired to say the least, but clean. The poor flooring squeak and people above sound like elephants. The sink was blocked, but quickly rectified when reported. The afternoon staff from start to finish were courteous, friendly and professional. We were first met by Katie who was friendly and extremely helpful and maintained that throughout our 4 night stay. I’d like to also mention the efficiency of other staff who were also very helpful and attentive with a smile; Sophie the excellent chef, Sue who’s easy charm and efficiency was markedly shown to all and not forgetting Mark always pleasant. All a contrast the other shift that showed non of those traits. Breakfast is a disaster and free for all; not up to the usual standard. By far the best Premier Inn was Stratford upon Avon! We stayed there in September last year. The manager and chef were above standard! The worst was definitely Oxford where sultry and unhelpful staff, especially in the bar and restaurant.
