Stayed here a couple of days this June 2026. The staff were brilliant in dealing with any issues. A young man whose name I forget was especially good at sorting out the 20% discount on Sunday food served in the restaurants. The rooms have tall, tall ceilings. The carpets seem new. Thank goodness rooms have baths and showers. We arrived by train and the hotel is directly across the street from the station. Food was good in the restaurant and there was a good spread at breakfast. Yup, we’d go back anytime.

We booked a room here, arriving last night after a long journey home from a short break. We had upgraded to a superior room and paid in full several weeks in advance. Prior to our arrival, I had also emailed the hotel to confirm our arrival time and to let them know we would be travelling with our two small Dachshunds. The hotel acknowledged and responded to my email. When we arrived at around 10pm with our luggage and dogs, we were told that our room had been given away. We were then informed that the only remaining room had a broken door lock, meaning they were unable to accommodate us at all. I asked why this had happened when our room had been fully paid for weeks in advance and we had confirmed our arrival time. I also asked why nobody had contacted us to let us know there was a problem. I was told they "didn't have time." The manager then explained that, on average, around 4% of guests do not arrive, so they had decided to reallocate our room. This is completely unacceptable considering our booking had been prepaid in full. We were told that because we were among the last guests to arrive, we had effectively been allocated the last available room—which turned out to be unusable because of the broken lock. The hotel offered to try to arrange a taxi to another hotel, but after around 30 minutes waiting at reception we were told that none of the taxi companies they had contacted could take dogs. We were eventually offered alternative accommodation approximately a 10-minute walk away. This meant walking through the city centre at around 11pm on a Saturday night with luggage and two small dogs after travelling for almost 12 hours. The manager offered to walk ahead with our dogs while we carried our luggage, but after the level of incompetence we had already experienced, we were understandably not comfortable with that suggestion. We eventually walked to the Marriott Residence Inn Aberdeen, who were excellent. The room was ready, the staff were welcoming, and the stay was everything we had expected from our original booking. Thankfully, we were not asked to pay anything extra. The contrast between the two hotels could not have been greater. The entire experience at the Station Hotel was chaotic, poorly managed and showed very little regard for customers. Overbooking a prepaid room without any attempt to contact the guest, then leaving them effectively stranded late at night, is simply unacceptable. A formal complaint has been submitted to the hotel management, and we are awaiting their response. I sincerely hope no one else has to experience what we did.

As a regular guest at this hotel, I feel entitled to share an honest assessment. For a three star establishment, one would reasonably expect a consistent standard of Comfort, unfortunately, that is rarely the case here. The issues are not isolated incidents but recurring patterns. Drinking water in the room is available sporadically, the lift has been out of service for months at a time, and radiators work intermittently. The windows either won't open or, when they do, won't close properly without improvised fixes. Hot water in the bathroom depends entirely on whether the tap mixer is functional, cold showers are not an amenity I was looking for. Stained carpets appear to be considered acceptable by management, as they are a permanent fixture rather than an exception. Breakfast is uninspiring, powdered scrambled eggs, limp bacon, beans, and sausages. A little more effort and variety would go a long way. One thing genuinely stands out though: the staff. Friendly, helpful, and professional, the main reason I keep coming back. Overall, the facilities need serious attention before this place can honestly call itself a three-star property.

We recently stayed at The Station Hotel for an overnight stop. You really can’t beat the location—it is literally steps away from the train and bus stations and right in the heart of the city. The hotel has a lovely historic character, and the staff were very welcoming and helpful during our stay. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had everything needed for a good night’s sleep. If you are looking for a convenient, centrally located base at a fair price, this is a great option. I’d definitely stay again. Breakfast was fantastic, hot and cold options, and the hot option was hot- all inclusive abroad could learn something 😀
