A straightforward, well-located city centre hotel on Market Street, close to the railway station and harbour.
About The Douglas Hotel
The Douglas Hotel sits on Market Street, close to Aberdeen railway station and only a few minutes' walk from Union Street and the harbour, making it a convenient base for anyone travelling by train or wanting to explore the city centre on foot. The building's granite exterior fits the surrounding streetscape, with a straightforward, comfortably furnished interior inside.
Bedrooms are of a good practical size for a city centre hotel, with a mix of standard and family rooms, and the hotel's bar and restaurant offer a casual option for breakfast or an evening meal without needing to venture out. Its central position means most of Aberdeen's main sights, including the Maritime Museum and Art Gallery, are within easy walking distance.
The location suits visitors without a car, given the short walk to the station and Union Square, though the surrounding streets can be lively at night given the concentration of bars nearby.

What guests say
Lovely hotel. My room looked a little tired, but it was clean, and fit for purpose. Not the most comfortable bed though 😬. Staff friendly and helpful. Great location. Close to train station. Nice restaurants nearby.

I recently stayed at the Aberdeen Douglas Hotel and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The girls on reception were incredibly welcoming and helpful, making check-in quick and easy and always greeting guests with a smile. The food in Molly’s was excellent. Every meal we had there was delicious, with great variety and quality, and the atmosphere in the restaurant made it a really enjoyable place to dine. A special mention must go to Catherine in Molly’s, who was exceptional. Her service was warm, attentive, and professional, and she really helped make our dining experience memorable. The hotel’s location is also ideal, making it easy to explore the surrounding area and get around the city. What really stood out throughout the stay was the friendly atmosphere and the fantastic staff. Everyone we encountered was approachable, professional, and clearly committed to making guests feel comfortable. Also recommend visiting the Ivy Lodge next door. We had the best cocktails in The Workshop. A hidden gem in my opinion.

Rooms ok ! Loose tiles in bathroom, rough paint etc also my room had the kitchen extractor running up the wall so heavy vibrating during kitchen service although off at night so not much of an issue as the early morning. Location great. Parking not great but ncp round the back. Slightly below average

Rooms are in need of renovation. Bathroom tiles dirty very stuffy windows wouldn’t open Carpet was so old and stained. We moved to their apartments that they have in a different building but I would not recommend those either. Tub couldn’t be used, no steaming on the tv, washer/dryer is washer only, pillows hard and bed uncomfortable.
