We had a wonderful stay at Melrose, hosts Kevin and Tracey are so welcoming and kind and let us keep our bags after checking out to tour town for the day. The Victorian rooms are well appointed, modern, our superior suite had a very comfortable bed. Delicious full English breakfast with gluten free bread. Kevin gave us some great hiking tips. Great location, lake, town center, shops and so many trails all within reach. We already can't wait to return someday, highly recommend if you're in Ambleside! Thank you, Kevin and Tracey for a lovely memory!

Fabulous B&B, the best we've ever stayed in. Extremely clean, very welcoming, nice size rooms, great shower and secure parking. Rooms were made up each day. Tracey and Kevin were great, we always looked forward to our breakfast everyday. Lots of on the doorstep walks. We'll definitely be back one day and will be recommending to friends and family.

We have stayed in many guesthouses and hotels in Ambleside, but after a stay at Melrose we will not be looking around in future. The amazing service started when I had an issue booking online, I called and went to answer phone. I would have moved on to another hotel, but Tracey called back within a minute and sorted the use issue. We then received a text the day before our stay saying at could check in at 10am and use the car park, which was a huge bonus On arrival, Tracey greeted us and was so welcoming. We were shown up to our room which was immaculate. In fact, we even tried to find fault in the whole guesthouse, but there is clearly a lot of pride taken and nothing looked even slightly tired. The breakfast was as good as you get - fantastic quality items and a great choice. Tracey again was attentive and friendly. We really cannot fault Melrose. It's in a prime location, has car parking, clean, comfortable, great food and amazing hospitality. We are always thinking of returning.

We stayed at Melrose this bank holiday just gone. Me and my husband were thoroughly happy with our stay here. The room was lovely, comfortable bed, lovely powerful shower and very clean. Tracey obviously takes pride in her establishment, it comes through in its presentation. The breakfast was amazing and she even left us Easter treats both days. We went hiking the one day and our coats got soaked, Tracey’s partner kindly offered to help get our coats dry. I would definitely stay here again if we came back to the Lake District.
