What guests say
We had the loveliest stay here for 3 nights, mainly because Clare and Eugene were such absolutely brilliant hosts! They made us feel 100% welcome from the moment we stepped inside with the friendliest smiles, already helping us with parking and taking the time to chat with us. The room was so clean, cosy and inviting with the comfiest bed and everything we needed - plus such a lovely touch of even leaving some yummy cupcakes for us! The breakfasts were all so delicious and filling with great coffee and we also opted for the lovely packed lunches which were diligently prepared and set us up for a full day of exploring. Above all, I think what made this BnB stand out so much is just how kind, helpful and down to earth Clare and Eugene are. Nothing at all was too much trouble and they were so engaged in our Lake District plans by providing really handy tips and suggesting exciting hikes, activities and restaurants. They really made Ambleside feel like home for those nights and we would absolutely love to come back one day! 😊

We recently stayed with Eugene and Clare at their very comfortable home . Brilliantly situated, parking made simple, nothing too much trouble, and fun and informative about who to book with and where to go. Great breakfast too ! We would thoroughly recommend them. Thank you Eugene and Clare.

We just had a 3 night stay in this gem of a b&b for our first time in the Lake District. I had very nearly booked a hotel on the outskirts of town, but was drawn to the positive reviews, and am very glad we opted to stay here. We were greeted by decorations, a card and homemade muffins for my mum's birthday which were delicious. The room was spotless and beds were very comfortable. There was lots of tea available, fresh milk which we were able to top up as needed, and a great coffee machine, as well as a small tin of toffees which we hoovered up. Everything you need is there including hairdryer and first aid kit (came in useful for plasters when I got a blister). We looked forward to returning at the end of each day. The location is ideal, nestled down a quiet road within moments of the main amenities, the bus stop, pubs, and the starting points of scenic walks. Our room had a lovely view of a church spire. Breakfast has ample choice, generous portions, and includes selecting items the night ahead - personally I think this is great to avoid waste. It was clearly prepared thoughtfully with quality ingredients and was not in the least bit greasy the way a full English can sometimes be. My only suggestion would be to consider keeping a jug of water in the dining room for guests to help themselves to. Claire and Eugene are patient and kind hosts who go out of their way to help as much as they can. We dimly got to the wrong part of town on the first day, and Eugene was able to help us get to the correct bit without batting an eyelid. Both took the time to consider good walking routes for us, providing us with maps and suggestions. It was clear that they knew the area well and wanted to make sure guests could make the most of it. We had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to stay again.
