My 7-year-old son, who is autistic, pre-verbal, and has global developmental delay, has been attending weekly gymnastics classes at Hendon Leisure Centre for around a year and eight months now. He is also home educated, so gymnastics has become an important part of his weekly routine, and I honestly can’t thank the team enough for how supportive and inclusive they’ve been. Before finding Hendon Leisure Centre, it was really difficult to find activities that felt understanding and accommodating of his needs. He is very active and physical, but he needs extra support, patience, and consistency to feel comfortable and able to participate. The team here have always given him the space and time to develop at his own pace, without pressure to move classes before he’s ready. Katalin, the lead gymnastics coach, who I’ve mainly communicated with through email, has always come across as supportive and inclusive in her approach. She has been understanding about my son needing a smaller, younger group for now, while also allowing us opportunities to trial the older age classes to see when he may be ready to progress. I’m also incredibly grateful that I’m allowed to participate alongside him during classes, as he needs one-to-one support. Unfortunately, other places we approached were not as accommodating or just didn’t have any gymnastics classes appropriate for SEND children , so this has meant a lot to us as a family. As a home-educating parent, it’s been amazing seeing my son’s confidence and gymnastics skills grow over time🥹🥳 We also recently held his 7th birthday party here, and it was such a lovely experience. He absolutely loved having free play in the gym with the trampoline and foam pit alongside his friends🎊🤩 A huge thank you to Julian, who is the manager, for making the booking process so smooth and supportive 🥰, and a special thank you also to Jamie ,Anishka, and Zoltan 🎉, who were all really kind and helpful to myself, my family, and our guests on the party day. I’d also like to highlight Dora, who you’ll often see sitting at the front desk, who always brings such warmth and friendliness, which is always appreciated 💞✨ Also, Tumi was a super lovley first coach for my son when he started in 2024, I was really concerned when she left and how my son would cope with the change😅😮‍💨 But to my surprise he was actually so great with it, we now have Carmen who has been coaching my son for the last couple months now , she has been so wonderful with him and he’s really taken a liking to her 🥰✨ Warmly, Frieda x

joined this gym thinking it would be a decent place to train, but it turned out to be one of the worst experiences I’ve had. The atmosphere is uncomfortable from the moment you walk in, and it feels more stressful than motivating. The biggest issue is the staff. One of the workers was unnecessarily aggressive and rude, speaking to members in a way that’s completely unprofessional. I saw him snap at people over small things and make the whole environment feel tense. Instead of helping, he seemed more interested in intimidating people. On top of that, the gym itself isn’t well maintained. Equipment is often out of place, and no one seems to handle things properly. It just adds to the feeling that the place is poorly run. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this gym to anyone. Between the bad atmosphere, lack of professionalism, and how uncomfortable it feels to be there, it’s definitely not somewhere I’ll be returning to.

I had a very uncomfortable experience at this gym due to a staff member’s behaviour. During my visit, the worker spoke to me in a hostile and dismissive tone and made comments that I felt were inappropriate and unprofessional. It created an environment that didn’t feel welcoming or respectful. I believe staff should treat all members equally and professionally, and management should address this to ensure a safe and inclusive space.

I went to this gym expecting a normal workout, but the experience was honestly awful. The place itself wasn’t great, but the worst part was the staff. One of the workers was extremely aggressive for no reason — the moment I asked a simple question about equipment, he snapped at me like I’d done something wrong. It didn’t stop there either. He kept hovering around, watching people in a really uncomfortable way, and when someone accidentally left weights out of place, he went off on them in a way that was completely unnecessary and borderline intimidating. It created a really tense atmosphere where you feel like you’re walking on eggshells instead of focusing on your workout. For a place that’s supposed to help people improve themselves, this gym does the opposite. Poor customer service, unprofessional behavior, and honestly just not a welcoming environment at all. Someone like that should not be dealing with customers — management seriously needs to step in and take action, because this kind of behavior is unacceptable.
