About Abbey Hotel Bath

Abbey Hotel Bath stands on North Parade, a Georgian terrace laid out in the 1740s a short walk from Bath Abbey and the Parade Gardens. It is one of the larger independently branded hotels in the centre, with around 60 bedrooms across three linked buildings, and now trades as part of Marriott's Tribute Portfolio while keeping its own name and character.

Bedrooms are graded from compact classic doubles up to feature rooms and suites, and were refurbished to a contemporary standard with air conditioning, good beds, decent bathrooms and lift access to most floors. Front rooms look over North Parade; those at the rear are quieter. The public rooms are hung with contemporary art, part of a rolling programme that the hotel runs with local galleries, and there is an outdoor terrace used for drinks and casual dining.

The kitchen and bar serve all day, from breakfast through to dinner, with a British menu and a long cocktail list. The Abbey Tea Bar handles afternoon tea. There is no spa, but Thermae Bath Spa is about five minutes away on foot and the hotel can arrange entry. Dogs are welcome in designated rooms, which is less common in the city centre.

The position is one of the hotel's strengths: Bath Spa railway station is roughly five minutes' walk, the Roman Baths and Pump Room three, and Pulteney Bridge under ten. That makes it a practical choice for a weekend without a car, for groups splitting across several rooms, and for anyone attending events at the Guildhall or Theatre Royal. Rates sit below the city's five-star properties, and midweek stays out of season can be noticeably cheaper.

What a beautiful place to stay! Exceptional food, service, accommodations. From thoughtful details like a towel warmer in the bathroom to staff who were so willing to help, we are grateful. Sana and Fouzia were warm and welcoming at reception. One of these women had to help us with a heavy bag, done with a kind heart. Gluten free options at breakfast were wonderful (gf eggs Benedict)! Su made an amazing latte and Daisy and Ruairc were friendly and lovely at breakfast. What a lovely stay!

I did not stay at the property, but I did have lunch there as a walk-in guest. I would like to particularly commend Maya, who only joined the property last Sunday. She is truly exceptional. Individuals like Maya are precisely why guests would choose to return, and I am confident that she will advance rapidly in her career. The service was truly outstanding.

A positive , the staff were friendly and helpful . The negatives far outweigh the nice staff : A maze of halls and stairs which loses some charm getting back and forth to your room with a bad knee Given room 216 , which looked initially nice , but a closer look and it was a bit run down. Worse yet , The room ended up being directly under the loading / unloading area which woke us every morning btw 6:30 and 8:30 with deliveries and or garbage pickup . The bathroom has no ventilation, scalding hot water ( literally!) direct from the tap and when you took a shower the rain head shower actually put out more water than the drain could handle so that meant initially spilling all over the floor , then having to turn the shower completely off 4 times to allow it to drain to be able to complete a shower ! This was a completely disappointing room for the premium price we paid - the upside was the bed was comfortable… too bad you couldn’t sleep in !

The location and staff at the hotel could not be bettered. The hotel is a stones throw from all the attractions you want yet is still quiet. The staff were all very nice, especially Sally, she really looked after us, she helped make the whole stay enjoyable! The rooms were ok, nice and clean. The bed was a bit firm for our liking but that is just down to preference, and it might be worth noting that in our room (116) you can’t actually open the wardrobe door enough to get the ironing board out, it catches the bed! Breakfast choices excellent, would gladly stay again!
