About Francis Hotel Bath

Queen Square is one of Bath's finest Georgian set pieces, its central gardens ringed by golden stone terraces, and the Francis Hotel occupies a handsome stretch of it. From here the Roman Baths and the wider city centre are an easy walk, with shops, restaurants and pubs all close by.

The 98 rooms have been refurbished to a comfortable, well-equipped standard, with air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms and complimentary drinks in room; family and accessible rooms are also available. There's a restaurant and bar on site serving breakfast and meals through the day, along with spa facilities for guests wanting to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Practical extras include a lift, free WiFi, laundry service, luggage storage, meeting rooms and an electric vehicle charge point, and pets are welcome.

Staff are consistently attentive, and the location does much of the work for guests keen to explore Bath on foot. Golf and fishing can be arranged nearby for those wanting to venture beyond the city centre, while Queen Square itself remains a pleasant spot to return to at the end of the day.

I was travelling with my daughter and we stayed for a little treat before doing the student hall removals. The Francis Hotel is fabulous. Beautifully refurbished. The room was spacious and spotless, with really comfy beds (we were upgraded). The spa was our highlight, we both had a mini treatment. One of the best facials I have had and my daughter said the same about her back massage. The therapists were lovely, welcoming and we were thoroughly pampered! We will be back.

A really lovely place to stay. All the reviews say how wonderful the service is and so we had high expectations and it really did live up to it. Everyone we spoke to was genuinely friendly and super helpful. Firstly the location is amazing, a short walk to the circus or the crescent, and an equally short walk into bath centre and the baths and the abby, while being in a pretty quiet square. The room was very clean and it was great to see all the little details in the design of the spaces. The heated towel rail was beautiful as well as functional, the lamps and mirrors, the colours in the room, the bed and bedding, the glazing in the windows, you can see that all the details have been thought through. The spa was excellent, the restaurant was beyond great (a rare combination of comfortable, beautiful and great food). The bar was great with amazing cocktails, the terrace is calm and comfortable. All the spaces are lovely to be in. Beyond this though the staff were genuinely the highlight of our stay, obviously competent but really friendly and warm. Over all I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

We had a wonderful stay at the Francis Hotel in Bath. The location is excellent, right across from the elegant Queen Square and within easy walking distance of the Roman Baths, the Abbey, and the city’s main shopping streets. During our stay there was an event taking place in the square, so there was a little bit of noise, but even from our first-floor room it was never bothersome. The hotel itself is beautiful, with plenty of character and a lovely Georgian feel throughout. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with high ceilings, tasteful decor, and everything kept in excellent condition. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and everything about our stay was seamless. We were also lucky with beautiful weather, which made wandering around Bath and enjoying the square even more special. We genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would happily return. Highly recommended!

We stayed three nights in a room located in the newer wing, downstairs with a view of the loading area. I laugh as I write this because although the view was exceptionally poor, our stay here was quite wonderful. Our absolutely quiet room was spacious with two comfortable chairs, a firm and supportive bed, and sophisticated decor. We really felt that we were tucked away in a lesser traveled area and quickly felt at home. The location is superb. On our first night we ate at Corkage which is one block away (and very delicious) and then we went to a play at the Royal Theater of Bath which is just two blocks in another direction. Likewise the Crescent, Circus, and abundance of Shopping are all close by without the location seeming busy. The block-sized park across from the hotel makes it seem more set apart from the hubbub. The morning breakfast buffet is amongst the best we’ve had in the ten hotels we’ve visited this past month. The large airy room is inviting. We did not go to the bar but it looked very stylish. The front lobby seating is quite comfortable and attractive. We know well that one can not expect nor count on being able to check in early but we let them know we would arrive early and asked if we could leave our bags. When we actually arrived, we were delighted to learn they had a room ready. We’ll look back on our stay at the Francis with great affection and thanks.
