About The Wheatsheaf Combe Hay
The Wheatsheaf Combe Hay works best for travellers after a slower pace than the city centre offers, though Bath itself is close enough for a day trip. It's a country pub with rooms set in the Somerset countryside, with a garden that makes for a pleasant spot to sit after exploring the surrounding lanes.
Rooms are warm and cosy, each with an en-suite bathroom, free WiFi and drinks available in-room. Breakfast is included, and the restaurant and bar are the real draw, with a kitchen turning out proper roast beef and swordfish alongside a broad choice of wines, beers and ciders. Staff are friendly and attentive, though service can slow down at busier times.
There's free on-site parking, and pets are welcome, making it an easy stop for those travelling with a dog. A golf course, pub, and other restaurants are all nearby, and the countryside setting suits anyone happy to swap city bustle for a quieter, greener base near Bath.

What guests say
Spent a couple of nights here around Valentine’s Day and it was the perfect choice. The rooms are lovely—really warm and cozy, which was much appreciated in February! The pub itself has so much character and a great atmosphere for a drink or dinner. Pro tip: Google Maps can be a bit glitchy and might point you to a nearby spot, so just keep an eye out for the signs as you get close. Once you find it, there’s plenty of parking space, which made things very easy. A great, authentic stay!

If you're planning to spend any time in the Bath area you will be hard pressed to find a more welcoming and hospitable place to stay. We stayed with friends for 3 nights (3rd night free!! Amazing deal) and have had the best time. Less than £20 to city centre in an Uber, the rooms are great and the staff fabulous. We stayed in The Wendy House, it's well equipped, comfortable, warm and oh so quiet plus you get a daily supply of homemade biscuits, it's a winner all the way. The breakfasts which were include are delicious and plentiful and if you are staying overnight you should really check out the restaurant which is also v v good. We will be back next time we are in the area. Did I mention the staff, they are amazing and will go out of their way to ensure you have a great experience.

Had lunch here today the staff were very nice and accommodating. Very much a country pub. When we went the car parking was packed they do have an over flow parking field up hill and with the rain muddy not suitable for someone with mobility difficulties.

Came in sat down ordered food. Black dog sat on a wall next to table the entire meal begging for my food Went to the person next to me started scratching his leg begging for food Staff ignored the dogs Bar had very bad smell of animals and a lady casually sleeping on a sofa inside the building Toilet was a shack on the side off the building Food was bland and very expensive. Paid 20 pound for a burger had one bite gifted it to “house dog”. Probably a way off sourcing free food for there pets Really don’t understand why this place has such good reviews if I had to guess I’d say they are making fake reviews
