Prior Park Landscape Gardens

If you're visiting Bath and looking for a peaceful escape from the city, this place is an absolute gem. Although it's often described as "just a park", it's so much more than that. From the moment you arrive, you're surrounded by beautiful landscapes, tranquil lakes, and breathtaking views across Bath. The highlight is undoubtedly the magnificent Palladian Bridge, one of only four of its kind in the world. It's especially stunning reflected in the lake below and makes for some incredible photographs, whether you're a keen photographer or simply want a memorable holiday snap. The main horseshoe-shaped walking route is an easy, enjoyable stroll through woodlands, open parkland, and peaceful viewpoints. There are plenty of quiet spots to relax, making it ideal for couples, families, dog walkers, or anyone wanting a dose of nature without venturing far from the city centre. The staff are welcoming and helpful, and while there is an admission fee, it's well worth the price for such a beautifully maintained landscape. The café is also worth a visit, serving hot drinks, delicious scones with clotted cream and jam, along with a selection of other snacks and refreshments. Getting here is straightforward. You can walk from Bath city centre, catch the No. 2 bus, or drive, although parking is limited. Overall, this is one of the most picturesque and peaceful places in Bath. It's the kind of place that exceeds expectations—you arrive thinking you're visiting a park and leave wondering why it's not talked about even more. A truly memorable visit and highly recommended.

Lovely lovey park! I enjoyed the walk and finally getting to see the see the Palladian Bridge (one of only four bridges of this specific design in the world!) The scenery was absolutely breathtaking! It was however a little hot when we visited and we really wanted to escape the heat so it was a quick visit.

Beautiful National Trust spot. Recommended to get the bus all the way up the hill, to where the entrance is, rather than driving, as there is no parking except on Sundays nearby. Once you’re there, guides help you to the best options, especially with strollers. We really enjoyed walking the loop and seeing the beauty of the Gardens at the slope. There is a lovely grassy area with shade near the café at the bottom, where we could enjoy a picnic with our kids. Highly recommended.

Absolutely gorgeous! I visited in mid-May earlier this year, and the gardens were in full bloom. During our walk, we even got to see ducks and ducklings around the property, which made the experience even more special. It is definitely worth the visit. One thing to keep in mind: we sat at the bottom of the hill near the Palladian Bridge, and later that day I discovered a tick had attached itself. I would recommend avoiding sitting directly in the grass and bringing bug spray, just to be safe.
