Riverside camping beside the Conwy, a mile from Betws-y-Coed
About Cwmlanerch Campsite and Cottages
Cwmlanerch sits directly beside the River Conwy, roughly a mile from Betws-y-Coed, with several tent pitches close enough to the water that you'll drift off to the gentle sound of the river. Run as a family business alongside a small number of self-catering cottages, the site has a settled, established feel rather than the polish of a large commercial park. Facilities are straightforward—a toilet block with free hot showers and a utility room housing washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer—but the focus here is clearly on the setting rather than bells and whistles.
The site welcomes tents and motorhomes on a first-come basis across all-weather pitches, though touring caravans aren't accepted and there's no electric hook-up for tents. Open fires are permitted in designated spots off the grass, and logs are sold on site. Dogs are no longer allowed, so pet owners will need to look elsewhere. Some visitors note the facilities can feel a touch tired in places, but for walkers wanting a quiet, scenic pitch within reach of Betws-y-Coed's shops and pubs—without paying for extras they won't use—Cwmlanerch delivers exactly what it promises.

What visitors say
Amazing campsite with clean, well-maintained facilities. We noticed a review mentioning the showers going hot and cold, and experienced this too, but found an easy fix: start with the shower set towards the colder side on the left, adjust gradually to get a steady temperature. There's also a lovely riverside path leading to a small rocky beach, around a 10-minute walk away. Great stay overall!

Love this Campsite. We've stayed here for many years and ticks all our boxes. Beautifully maintained grounds. Simple, clean shower and toilet block. Stunning location, very quiet and peaceful. Scenic 20 minute walk into the town for shops, pubs, restaurants. Fantastic hikes to choose from. Firewood available on site to purchase.

Lovely location, beautiful and quiet when we went. 25 minute walk, through the woods, into Betws. Facilities nice and clean. Coffee shed, a great addition to the site, occasional local entertainment on a saturday, provided by Guy, the coffee shed owner, lovely fella, always up for a chat.
