About Dragon Bed and Breakfast

Holyhead Road runs straight through Betws-y-Coed, with the forested hills of Eryri National Park rising around the village and Swallow Falls within easy reach for a walk. Dragon Bed and Breakfast occupies a medieval inn building right on this road, giving guests a base with mountain views and easy access to the surrounding trails.

The 11 rooms are simple and en-suite, spread across two floors, with free WiFi throughout. Downstairs there's a restaurant serving Chinese food alongside a bar and outdoor seating, plus breakfast and 24 hour reception for whenever you arrive. Free on-site parking and bike storage make it a practical stop for walkers and cyclists alike.

Beyond the front door there's plenty to fill the days: cycling and walking routes lead straight into the national park, while fishing, horse riding, watersports and a golf course are all nearby, alongside further pubs and restaurants in the village. It's a straightforward, well-placed base for exploring Snowdonia rather than a destination in itself.

The location was great, we had no issues parking the car. Ms Lee was very friendly, we arrived late and she was kind enough to leave the key outside for us. The location in Bewts y Coed was very good for a hiking trip and the bed was quite comfy. However, on the first night when we arrived the heating in the room didn't work, and the shower was lukewarm at best. We brought this up to Ms Lee the next morning and the heating was fixed later that day, but the shower wasn't. We brought it up again next day , and Ms Lee told us that she looked at it but thought that the water temperature was okay. Upon insisting, she said she would have someone to have a look. The night before we were due to leave the shower had been fixed and we had hot water. 2/3 nights we were showering with lukewarm water. If we hadn't insisted it would have been all of them. Bearing in mind this was one of the cheapest options in Bewts y Coed the breakfast was okay, but the room where the breakfast was served was freezing cold. The heating clearly hadn't been turned on. In general the whole building looks like it needs some refurbishment.

It's a nice little motel (not a hotel) in nature's lap operated by Lee. We stayed for two nights and had no issues. The rooms and ammenities are very basic. They seriously need lot of upgrading. A competent DIYer can turn it into a much better space than it is right now. I have no complaints coz the host was lovely, breakfast was excellent and practically everything you need for a decent sleep. However, I do feel though that for the same or probably less ££ you can easily get travelodge or premier Inn. Also, the amount of dirt, mess and poorly organized reception area is likely because there is no staff to carry out cleaning. She is managing everything herself which can lead to the condition it is in today. Sadly the upkeep of motel is not closer the British standards. There is no one present at the reception. So you need to ring the number and the host will then come downstairs to attend the guests. I have no regrets for our stay but the business is only operating because of the location and less competition in the area.

We had a lovely stay at the Dragon Hotel. Room was clean and well stocked with tea/coffee etc. This was an excellent base for exploring the area. Breakfast was lovely and the lady there was very polite and helpful. A perfect stay for us - thank you!
