YHA Brecon Beacons Danywenallt

This hostel is perfectly placed for people wishing to go and explore the nearby mountains. Sadly, it lacks a lot of improvements, 1. The bedrooms are far too overcrowded and very small, and the mattresses on the beds are far too thin and very uncomfortable. 2. it is an extremely cold hostel and also the doors need retainers on them because they do slam a lot and this can be heard upstairs as well. 3. You should not have to do a deep clean before you leave when you pay a lot of money which you do for this accommodation. A cleaner should be there to make sure it’s ready for the next group of people so that you can enjoy the final day of your holiday or trip. 4. The bathrooms are far too small and do not have hooks for you to put your clothing or towels on and also the showers are extremely slippery but not only that there is no paper towels in the bathroom for you to dry your hands on which is a standard requirement for hygiene. If the hostel was brought up to those standards, I will definitely come again but at the moment sadly I would not. The kitchen is very small when you have so many people wanting to use it. also, it is not fully wheelchair accessible at all especially in the main house.

An absolutely amazing home-y accommodation in the middle of a beautiful place. Abbey looked after us through a snowstorm and was an absolute angel, plus she’s a really good cook!

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights at this fabulous hostel. Everything about it was excellent. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful about places to visit in the area and where to walk and also worked incredibly hard keeping the premises clean and tidy. There are a choice of nice spots to eat outside if you are self catering and want enjoy the wonderful views. Even the garden furniture is well maintained and somebody has gone to the trouble of planting up the borders and pots in the courtyard area which adds to the cared for feel of the place. Thanks for a superb break. We will be back!

Myself and several others from our walking group stayed during the Easter weekend. I have to say I have limited experience with hostels and wasn't expecting much, but this place exceeded my expectations. The accommodation is basic but very clean and squared away. We were staying there after a 24 hour, 70km hike so you can imagine how tired we all were when we finally rocked up at 10pm. This was past the scheduled check in time and the manager was there to greet us personally outside. In all fairness, we were 'late' but he was very fair and had stayed back to ensure we got settled in for the night. Not only that, he even provided us with some drinks and snacks which was well received. The next morning we all met for breakfast which was a combination of continental and full cooked breakfast which was outstanding. The service was fantastic and all in all a very pleasant experience. Great setting and atmosphere. Would have no hesitation on returning and would highly recommend this place.
