Always a delight visiting Brixton. It was very busy the day we visited, the restaurant was slightly disorganised and there wasn’t a “queue” . It was more of a trying to get the attention of a waiter and hopefully you would be seated. We got the jerk chicken, cod fritters with pineapple and ginger punch. Jerk chicken was ok, it was charred and seasoned. Jerk chicken came with rice and beans, coleslaw and pineapple but rice was a little hard. Cod fritters were a little bit stodgy and it wasn’t as fluffy as you would like it to be. The drink was on the heavier end of ginger so if you like ginger, you would like this. Overall, it was an alright experience compared to Maureen’s kitchen, the jerk chicken here was better but nothing special/surprising. The service could definitely be more organised.

The food was delicious: jerk chicken, plantains, rice and peas, and slaw. We met the chef, who was warm and personable. She invited us inside to see photos of famous folk who have also enjoyed the food there. We were in good company, especially since the owner was from our hometown, Washington, DC. A great way to end our first visit to Brixton.

Went here due to review recommendation, however was totally wrong. The only great thing about this place are the staff and the head person in charge was supper welcoming. The food wasn't IT for me, the cod fritters was high in salt, rice & peace lack proper carribean feel and the Oxtail was just not right. Rum punch was good so will recommend

The staff were SO friendly and hospitable and allowed us to order takeaway even though it was near closing time. But the food was so terrible I felt compelled to write this review. Actually it might be some of the worst food I’ve had in London. The jerk chicken was super sweet and tangy - just tasted like artificial tamarind sauce. The mango pickle thing on the side was sour and bad. Rice was fine. Plantain was full of oil, not crispy and unseasoned. They’re in such a prime location and the people are wonderful I just wish they worked on their menu and food to match the rest of the vibe! Sad to waste £50 :(

Diners like this restaurant's delicious cod fritters, flavorful jerk chicken, and curry mutton, as well as the wide selection of beers and rum punch. They also highlight the lively atmosphere, friendly staff, and good value for money.

Some reviews mention the food can be overpriced.
