About Number 8

A stocked drinks selection in every room means Number 8 covers the basics before you've even left the building, and with pubs, restaurants and other eateries all nearby on and around Castle Street, there's no shortage of choices for a proper meal out. It's a straightforward, comfortable setup rather than a destination in itself for food, but it makes for an easy base in Canterbury.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and a kitchen, along with free WiFi throughout. Family rooms are available, pets are welcome, and 24 hour reception means arrival times aren't a worry. Luggage storage is on hand too, useful for those exploring on foot before or after checking in.

The location on Castle Street puts Canterbury Cathedral and the city's other attractions within easy reach, and golf and fishing are both available nearby for anyone wanting to get out of town for a few hours. It's a well-placed spot for seeing the city without complication.

Didn't rank service higher as it's an unmanned property. The room was recently decorated, well equipped and has a lovely shower. The location is excellent, really near the cathedral and other attractions and overall it was great value 👍

Considering all the good reviews, I was surprised by the poor level of cleanliness in our room when we arrived. Almost every surface was dusty, and there was extremely thick dust on the fan, the outlets, the TV stand, and most concerningly as someone with allergies, the headboard. If you are going to have a fabric headboard, it should be vacuumed regularly, but it clearly had not been. There were also cobwebs on the windows, the towel rack, and the bathroom vent. The coffee machine was dirty, and even after we cleaned it, it didn’t work during our stay so we had no coffee. The curtains were also stained and pilling. The room itself was as pictured - small but perfectly adequate for a short stay. However, we did ask for an extra duvet, and we were told it wasn’t possible. I’ve never stayed in any other hotel or B&B where extra blankets were not available, so it left a negative impression. We also were only able to communicate with the hosts via the booking website or email, as their number was not on WhatsApp and we were visiting from abroad without a working UK phone. We never saw any staff in the hotel during our 2-night stay, and the room is not cleaned during the stay. Overall, the lack of cleanliness really left a poor impression, so I would not wish to stay here again despite the convenient location.

A fabulous place. Everything was so clean and fresh. The room was warm and cosy and the kitchen was well equipped. Despite being so central to the city it was wonderfully quiet and just down the road from an inexpensive car park....which is rare in Canterbury! I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a reasonably priced place to stay in Canterbury for a few nights. I absolutely loved my stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone. Delighted.

Lovely, clean rooms, kitchen available downstairs with everything you might need and more! I loved the bathrobe. Our children loved that they could bake pizza in the oven! Location great for exploring Canterbury, which is lovely. Parking is a challenge, like in every busy centre. Thanks to the efforts of Laura and Julie we were able to park our car and trailer. Extra star for that! I wanted to stay longer. We payed 134 euro for 1 night for 2 adults and 2 children.
