About Premier Inn Cardiff City South

Premier Inn Cardiff City South suits drivers and budget-conscious visitors who want a straightforward base for reaching Cardiff city centre and Cardiff Bay without paying for parking. With 98 rooms spread across two floors, it works equally well for an overnight stopover, a weekend break, or a longer stay where value matters more than location on the doorstep of the sights.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, spacious beds and in-room drinks, and accessible rooms are available. Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar, plus breakfast to set you up for the day. Free on-site parking sits at the front of the hotel, with blue badge bays close to reception, making it a practical choice if you're arriving by car. It's worth noting that while most rooms are kept clean and comfortable, a few guests have found certain rooms less well maintained than others.

The surrounding area offers a mix of pubs, restaurants and eateries within easy reach, and those wanting more active pursuits will find golf, fishing and horse riding nearby, along with entertainment options for evenings out. Staff are consistently described as friendly and helpful, and the location makes getting into central Cardiff straightforward, whether for business, sport, or simply exploring the Bay.

I had an excellent stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for comfort and quality service. The staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and always willing to help with anything I needed. Their warm attitude really made a difference throughout my stay. The room was spotless, well-maintained, and very comfortable, making it easy to relax and enjoy my time there. Everything was thoughtfully arranged, and the overall atmosphere was both welcoming and peaceful. A special thank you for the free parking, which was very convenient and appreciated. I also felt very safe during my stay, which is extremely important when traveling. Overall, a fantastic experience—definitely deserving of 5 stars!

Stayed over here with my friend back at the weekend to spend time away from home, always wanted to visit Cardiff and this was brilliant I chose this Premier Inn with the free parking. Amazing room with air conditioning inside and comfy bed, first time doing this myself & the check in was all easy. Be absolutely coming back again

This was, without exaggeration, the worst hotel experience I have ever had. And I would strongly caution anyone against staying here, especially families. We booked two rooms for two days while my family was visiting, including my newborn baby. Our checkout time was 12:00 pm. I stepped out briefly to buy essential items for my baby and returned just 16 minutes late. At that point, my key card had already been deactivated. What followed was not just poor service. It was a complete lack of basic human decency. I explained clearly to the reception staff that my wife and newborn baby were still inside the room. My wife is unwell and physically unable to carry our baby along with all our belongings by herself. I simply requested assistance to re-enter the room so I could help them check out safely. The manager on duty, Roxan, refused outright. Despite being fully aware of the situation sick mother, newborn child, no lift in the building, and a long corridor to navigate. She showed zero empathy, zero flexibility, and zero professionalism. My request was not unreasonable; it was a matter of basic humanity. Yet she denied access without hesitation. As a result, my sick wife was forced to carry our baby and all our belongings alone through the corridor, worsening her condition. This was entirely avoidable and directly caused by the staff’s rigid and heartless behavior. Hospitality is not just about policies—it’s about people. This hotel failed completely on that front. I will never forget how we were treated, and I will never forgive the way this situation was handled. No guest, especially a family with a newborn should ever be subjected to such cold, dismissive, and inhumane treatment. Avoid this place if you value even the most basic level of respect and care.

Stayed here for three days and was not disappointed. The check-in was quick, easy and efficient and all the staff we encountered were polite and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable, if a little too warm. It wasn’t clear how to adjust the thermostat to make it cooler and with such a thick duvet and no other bedding options, I found it difficult to sleep well. That said, I did not ask reception if they could make the room cooler or if they had any thinner bedding. If I had, they may have helped. I have completed a separate review for the restaurant next door, but I will mention breakfast here too. Breakfast in Premier Inns now are almost always help yourself buffets. The problem I find with buffet breakfasts are that unless you are lucky enough to arrive just as a dish has been topped up, the food is lukewarm at best. The bacon can become dry and rubbery; the fried eggs have been sitting in a thin layer of oil, and are greasy with solid yolks; and the scrambled eggs can become watery and tasteless. The continental items fare only marginally better. Left out since opening for customers to help themselves to, the pancakes and muffins become stale. While I acknowledge that this is the Premier Inn way, and we know what we are getting when we book, I would much rather breakfast be cooked to order. We stayed in a Premier Inn in York in 2023 and the Full English was cooked to order, but this seems to be a rarity for Premier Inns now.
