Staybridge Suites Cardiff - an IHG Hotel

Pros: It’s a good hotel in good&quiet location. Our room at the east corner has a nice view of sunrise, but there is no bathtub… Cons: The breakfast is very simple and doesn’t have many choices. In the gym the water dispenser has been empty since Sunday and hasn't been refilled. The towels aren't being restocked.

Lovely relaxing atmosphere very clean rooms with kitchenette. The staff have been fantastic and very helpful and considerate to my pregnant daughter. Bar in holiday inn next door available to use. Nice breakfast a little limited in cooked choices eggs bacon beans, but plenty of fruit yogurt porridge toast croissant pan a chocolate etc to pick from. You won't go hungry. Free tea and coffee all day which is a nice touch. The reception staff were fantastic on arrival and very helpful. Short walk to cardiff bay approximately 15 to 20 minutes but Ubers available for very reasonable price cheaper than parking in city center or the bay

We stayed for 2 nights to attend an event in Cardiff. The suite was a good size and equipped with everything you need for a self catering stay. The rooms and communal areas were amazingly clean and we loved the air conditioning in the suite. We received friendly service throughout our stay. The location is good, a 20 minute walk to the bay or city. We liked the pantry where you can buy food or toiletries if needed and the prices were reasonable. The only negatives in my opinion were that parking is charged however the cost of £10 a day is reasonable compared to other hotels in the area and as parking is limited I understand the charge. The price for a room on event days is also extremely high (which seems to be a theme in Cardiff) and when comparing the price of the room on event days to the quality of the room, I'm not sure that you get value for money. On non event days, the rooms would be good value. The breakfast was tasty however the cooked offer was quite limited, only toast, bacon, beans and scrambled egg. There were no sausages, mushrooms or tomatoes which I would expect to be included in a cooked breakfast.

The hotel and facilities are very good (gym, laundry room, working space, etc.). Fantastic view as well over the lake. We had stayed once before last year and everything was perfect. This time around, the breakfast buffet was disappointing. Barely any option for vegans (I'm vegetarian and hit breakfast was scrambled eggs, beans and sausages). Half an hour before finishing time, the fruit salad bowl was empty; the fruit bowl was not replenished (all bananas were gone). The coffee was also really poor.
