About The Ken Bridge Hotel
Fishing spots, a nearby golf course and walking routes make Castle Douglas a good base for days outdoors, and Drumlanrig Castle is within easy reach for a change of pace. The Ken Bridge Hotel puts guests right by the River Ken, with a quiet, scenic setting that suits those looking to explore Dumfries and Galloway without straying far from a comfortable base.
The hotel has 10 rooms, including family and accessible options, all with en-suite bathrooms. There's free WiFi throughout, drinks available in room, and 24 hour reception for flexible arrival. The restaurant serves hearty food with both traditional Scottish and Asian dishes on the menu, and there's a bar, outdoor seating, packed lunches and kids' meals available too. A games room and wedding facilities, including a bridal suite, add to what's on offer for longer stays or special occasions.
Staff are noted for being welcoming, and rooms are kept clean and comfortable. Free on-site parking and laundry service make practical stays easier, though the on-site campsite facilities have been flagged as needing better upkeep. Beyond the hotel, there are pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, alongside the walking and fishing already on the doorstep.
What guests say
Basic but clean enough. Evening food is very "microwave/boil in a bag" but okay if you're really hungry and the restaurants in the town are booked. Lacking warmth and atmosphere in the eating area. The lady who saw to us was friendly enough but kind of felt like we were rushed. The entrance through a kind of room with candles gives creepy vibes.

We were camping and it was brilliant from start to finish. Customer service second to none. The owners are most welcoming wonderful people! Food was scrumptious! Campsite clean, had wc and shower facilities that were pretty clean. We will definitely go back but next time bring midge repellent as the little shits ate us alive hahaha

We stayed in the campsite one night. The food portions were great - hearty to say the least. The pub owners are great, extremely friendly and hospitable. Would definitely stay again. The river next door is the finishing touch!

Booked the campsite for 4 nights with friends who just got a caravan. They said they will sell the caravan after the terrible experience had. You have to walk across the beer garden to get to the toilet and shower. Very slippy patio and facilities are a shambles. No hooks to hang your towel or clothing in shower room, no shelves either. Very cold ,concrete uneven tile flooring. Restaurant freezing cold. I could go on and on. Do not go camping there.
