About Lloyds of Chester

Lloyds of Chester is a family-run guest house on Brook Street, offering straightforward, no-frills accommodation within easy reach of Chester's historic centre. It's the kind of place built for practical stays rather than grand impressions, with a character that comes from years of independent, hands-on management rather than any architectural flourish.

Rooms are modest but functional, each with an en-suite bathroom, and family rooms are available for those travelling with children. Guests have access to free WiFi, drinks in the room, and a 24 hour reception, along with luggage storage and a laundry service for longer trips. Breakfast is served on site, and there's also a restaurant and a café-bar for evening meals or a quiet drink without having to venture out.

The surrounding area has plenty to fill the day, with a golf course, pubs, bars, restaurants and entertainment venues all nearby. It suits guests who want an unfussy base with the essentials covered, close to what Chester has to offer.

The location is very convenient, very close to the station. The room size is okay but the toilets are way too small. The room service is okay but not consistently available.

Great location. Literally on the doorstep of train station, lots of local shops and only 10-15 mins walk or a couple of pounds in an uber into the centre of Chester. Basic but good value accommodation. Friendly host and very comfortable room. Perfect for an over night stay if going out in Chester or shopping. We were given a fob key so we could come and go as we pleased. Host allowed us to book in early (arranged in advance) as we were going to a gig. Room comfortable and warm. Had a very comfortable bed, kettle, tea, sugar etc, iron and ironing board and private toilet/shower room. Basic accommodation but great value for money and has everything you need. Parking at train station £10 for 24 hours or a bit more if you pay via the app in advance and parking literally a few minutes walk from hotel. Good value for money if you're looking for a night in Chester with no frills.

just me

I didn't want to put my bare feet on the carpet, although it was clearly hoovered, it felt dirty. The tiny cupboard/bathroom was not great. Dirty sheets. Very dated room. I couldn't sleep as the sheets smelt like strong chemicals. I would not stay here again. The guy at the front desk was helpful and pleasant.

You get exactly what you pay for. So, it doesn't look fancy, but it'll be a good experience. It's a budget hotel, very close to the train station and city centre. The rooms are clean, and so is the bathroom. The bed had fresh linen, and the mattress and pillows were clean. The bathroom is on the small side of things. If you require extra space to shower or use facilities, it may not be well suited. However, the water pressure is brilliant, and the bathroom is fully functional. The reception staff is polite and helpful, answered all our questions, and checked us in and out very quickly.
