Harriet’s Hideaway
Cumberland
Harriet's Hideaway sits three miles west of Keswick in Thornthwaite, where the Lake District's walking and cycling routes begin practically at the gate. Whinlatter Forest spreads across the lower slopes nearby, its network of trails suiting anything from gentle woodland rambles to serious mountain biking. A gallery and tea room operates a short walk away, while Braithwaite village—with its shops, pubs and restaurants—lies a mile down the road. Keswick itself, buzzing with market-town energy and visitor facilities, makes an easy drive for days when you want bustle rather than silence.
The cottage is a converted mid-terraced property with two double bedrooms and one bathroom. Downstairs holds a generous living room with a smart TV, plus a kitchen and dining area equipped for proper cooking: electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge-freezer and washer-dryer all present. Upstairs, both bedrooms have double beds (4ft 6in); the second also has a single bed. A small sitting area outside the front offers a place to settle with a drink. Parking for one car is private; a shared space accommodates another vehicle. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. One well-behaved pet can stay free. The property does not permit smoking, and those with mobility concerns should know the stairs are steep.
