Skelmorlie Cottage is a ground-floor apartment in Portinscale, on the northern edge of Derwentwater. Just two steps lead to the entrance, and everything is on one level: an open-plan living area with a wood burner, a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, one double bedroom, and a shower room. The cottage comes with heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi; logs for the burner are provided.
There's an enclosed courtyard with seating outside, parking for one car on site, and a bike store. Keswick itself lies a mile away by road, though walking there across the fields is also possible. A pub is half a mile off. The immediate area has cafés, a marina and watersports opportunities—sailing, canoeing, or boat cruises on Derwentwater are all within reach. Walkers and cyclists find themselves well placed: the cottage sits on both the Cumbrian Way and the Coast to Coast route, with fells like Catbells accessible from the house. No smoking indoors.
