Keswick sits at the heart of the Lake District, surrounded by fell walks and climbing routes. From the town centre, Skiddaw House is a terraced property sleeping eight across four bedrooms and three floors, arranged as a self-contained unit for your group. The ground floor holds a living room with a 55-inch smart TV and dining room, plus a kitchen with a full range of appliances for cooking. A shower room is also on this level. Upstairs are two further bedrooms—one with a kingsize bed and an ensuite shower room, the other with two singles and access to a bathroom with a bath and shower. The top floor has a further kingsize bedroom and a double.
A garden and patio sit to the rear, with parking available on the road. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; the heating is gas central. The property is non-smoking. Five minutes' walk takes you into Keswick's market square and its pubs, independent shops, restaurants and cafés. Theatre by the Lake is nearby on Derwentwater, where you can also hire rowing boats. Puzzle attractions and the Pencil Museum occupy younger visitors on rainy days. Walking routes branch out in all directions—Latrigg and Catbells are accessible from the town, and larger fells including Helvellyn, Skiddaw and Blencathra lie within easy reach.

I haven't stayed the night so only reviewing the honesty cafe. What a wonderful place. Stumbled on by accident. We were wet and tired and in need of bathroom. We went in with my friend to use the bathroom and found this wonderful kitchen, really well stocked up tuck shop . We decided to stop for a hot drink and to eat our lunch. We purchased a few snacks as well. I hope places like this survive and I'm so glad they exist. I'm a keen hiker and don't mind eating my pack up sat on a rock or grass but finding little places like this one is always so nice!

I expected basic shelter and got a genuinely brilliant stay. Skiddaw House had a warm log burner, a cosy lounge, a useful kitchen, and even food and beer available, which made all the difference after being out on the hill. It’s the kind of place that feels rough-and-ready in the best possible way — simple, friendly, and exactly what you need.

Unique experience highly recommended. A great way to get away from it all. Sue who runs the hostel is a fantastic host. The shop is handy as means lighter weight in your backpack. Plenty of ales and whisky to choose from. Fray bentos pies are a welcome treat!

We stopped here just for a cup of tea while walking Cumbria way. It was a nice stop as the weather wasn’t the best.
