Stable Cottage

Stable Cottage is a converted farm building on the Whatcombe House estate near Dorchester, now a one-bedroom, ground-floor holiday let for two people. The whole cottage is yours alone, with an open-plan living space that combines sitting area, dining space and kitchen, plus a bedroom with a double bed and an ensuite shower. Everything is on one level, two steps up from the entrance.

The kitchen has an electric oven, hob and microwave for self-catering; the living area includes a 55-inch smart TV. Bed linen, towels, electricity and Wi-Fi are included. The cottage sits within 22 acres of grounds shared with other properties on the estate—there's a games room with a pool table, table tennis and skittle alley, plus a patio with garden furniture and barbecue. Free fishing is available on-site for carp, rodd and rudd. A tennis court, woodland walks and sitting areas are dotted around the grounds. You have your own parking space, and a bike store is available. There is a fenced stream and lake 100 yards from the cottage. No smoking is permitted in the property.

Dorchester lies inland but the Jurassic Coast is within reach for a day out, and the surrounding countryside has pubs, local food producers and fossil hunting opportunities. The owners live on the estate and can offer advice if you need it.
