Barwhillanty Estate - Culdoach
Dumfries and Galloway
View on Google MapsCastle Douglas sits seven miles away, a market town known for food and independent shops, but the real draw here is what lies within the estate itself and the surrounding landscape. Barwhillanty operates as a working farm across 5000 acres in the Galloway Hills, with over 18 miles of marked walking routes available to guests. The area has become synonymous with mountain biking—this is 7Stanes country—and trout fishing is available on request. Kirkcudbright, an artists' town, is within reach for those interested in galleries and craft studios, while the region hosts festivals and events throughout the year.
Culdoach is a three-bedroom cottage arranged across two floors. Downstairs holds the main living space—an open-plan room combining sitting, dining and kitchen areas with a wood burner—plus a bedroom with its own ensuite shower. Upstairs, two further bedrooms share a bathroom. Outside, a sitting area overlooks the garden and surrounding hills. The kitchen is equipped for self-catering, and the essentials (bed linen, towels, wifi) are provided. One dog stays free. The access track is rough and unmarked for the final 570 yards, and the owners live nearby on the estate.
