The whole place is yours for the week, sleeping eight across four bedrooms, each with zip-and-link beds that split into singles if needed. There are three bathrooms, one with a roll-top bath, and a games room with table tennis. The open-plan ground floor centres on a woodburner, with a kitchen that handles proper cooking—electric oven and hob, plus an Aga—and a dining area opening onto countryside views.

What sets this apart is the walking. Route maps come with the property for over 18 miles of paths across the estate itself; trout fishing is available on request. The surrounding area is serious cycling territory—this is 7Stanes country—and there's golf, sailing and horse riding nearby. Castle Douglas, known for food and independent shops, is seven miles away.
