The Carriage
Dumfries and Galloway

Walk through the door of The Carriage and you enter a converted railway carriage from 1957, its interior opened up into a combined living room and kitchen. The space manages to feel both characterful and properly equipped—there's a fridge, oven, hob and microwave for cooking, along with a DVD player and television for quieter evenings. Three bedrooms branch off from the main living area: two doubles with en-suite shower rooms, and a bunk bedroom that works well for children or a third couple. The second bathroom serves as a backup.
Outside, the property sits on the grounds of the old Bridge of Dee station, surrounded by countryside. You get a large garden with lawn, seating and a barbecue, plus parking for two cars on site. One dog is welcome and stays free. Essentials like bed linen, towels, heating, electricity and wi-fi are included. The nearest towns—Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse of Fleet—are a short drive away, each with their own character and attractions. The location puts you within reach of forest trails, coastal walks along the Solway, and the wider landscape of southwest Scotland.
