About Ailsa Guest House
Ailsa Guest House suits visitors after an uncomplicated stay in Edinburgh rather than a resort experience - couples on a city break, solo travellers, or anyone who wants a comfortable bed and a good breakfast without extra frills. With just eight rooms, it has the feel of a small, personally-run guest house rather than a large hotel.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and drinks facilities, and breakfast is included to set guests up for the day. A 24-hour reception means arrivals and departures aren't tied to fixed hours, and luggage storage is useful for those exploring before check-in or after checking out. The property doesn't offer extensive on-site facilities, so it works best as a base for a city stay rather than a destination in itself.
The location on Eyre Place puts Edinburgh Zoo within easy reach as a nearby attraction, while Edinburgh Waverley station is under a mile away for train travel. Pubs, bars, restaurants and eateries can be found nearby, along with walking areas, and golf, fishing and watersports are all listed as accessible for those keen to venture further afield.

This was my first experience in a guesthouse. I got in pretty late, nearly 2200 and they were accommodating with my check in. Breakfast was super delicious. There is a buffet as well as a made to order menu. The bathroom was a nightmare as far as layout and water pressure. Parking is also hard to find. Cute little place with friendly staff, clean rooms and no bed bugs. I would definitely stay here again

About as good as you’re gonna get for the price. Includes a full hot breakfast every day (way more than I could eat!), cute dogs, nice clean and quiet rooms. I was upgraded to a double room and it was super spacious. It’s a 20 min walk uphill to the city center but worked perfectly for me; I walked everywhere and found it to be a very convenient location. Owner is so kind. The only thing is that the wifi doesn’t reach all the rooms on the top floor - so if you need wifi, I suggest requesting a room on the second floor. The house itself is not very accessibility-friendly (lots of steps) but it was fine for me. I would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful Edinburgh house that's been converted into a stylish guest house. Atmosphere, cleanliness and service are brilliant, and the host was very welcoming to us. And that's probably most important to make you relax and enjoy your stay. Close to the city centre with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants within walking distance. So, check it out, it's worth a visit!
