About Edinburghhouse Hotel
Edinburghhouse Hotel suits visitors after a straightforward, wallet-conscious stay rather than a pampering weekend away. Set on Pilrig Street, it has 30 rooms and puts you within reach of the city's attractions and transport links, making it a practical choice for sightseeing trips or short city breaks where the budget matters more than the finishing touches.
Rooms here are on the generous side for the price, and staff are generally friendly and willing to help, though service can be inconsistent and some rooms show their wear rather than gleaming finishes. Breakfast is available on site, along with a bar, free WiFi, a garden, in-room drinks, meeting rooms and concierge services, so the basics of a comfortable stay are covered even if luxury isn't the aim.
Beyond the hotel, the surrounding area has pubs, bars, restaurants and other eateries within easy reach, plus nearby entertainment options for evenings out. It's a fair fit for travellers who want an affordable, no-frills base in Edinburgh and don't mind a few rough edges in exchange for the savings.
What guests say
We chose this hotel because it's a 20-minute walk to the center and relatively close. You can get anywhere worth seeing by taking the number 11 bus from the street it's located on. This is definitely the best feature of the hotel. Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out is at 10:00 AM. What kind of nonsense is that? A chaotic rush starts in the hotel at 7:30 in the morning. Between the cleaning crew and the constantly creaking floorboards, it’s absolutely impossible to sleep. Everything is very old, and the windows in the lower floor rooms look out into a drainage grate. The room was damp and smelled terrible. There is no refrigerator. Since we only stayed for two days, we didn't bother asking for a room change, but I would never stay here again. Also, there is no one in charge to address any issues. Nobody cares.

⭐☆☆☆☆ I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was genuinely shocking and extremely disappointing. From the moment I entered the building, there was a strong, unpleasant smell. Unfortunately, the room itself was no better. It appeared unclean, poorly maintained, and far below the standard that any paying guest would reasonably expect. To be fair, I understand that the £100 deposit may simply be part of the hotel’s policies, and I do not blame the staff member who asked me to pay it. He was likely just following procedures. However, no deposit was mentioned when I made my booking, so being unexpectedly asked to pay an additional £100 upon arrival was already uncomfortable. What made everything worse was entering a room in such poor condition immediately afterwards. I came to Edinburgh expecting a clean, comfortable, and welcoming place to stay for the night. Instead, I felt misled, uncomfortable, and deeply disappointed. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and reflects on whether this is truly the experience they want their guests to have.

We would like to sincerely share our experience during our stay at this hotel. From the very beginning, the manager, Mr. Kumar, welcomed us with great warmth and professionalism. He was extremely polite and helpful, and kindly assisted us in changing our room due to my wife’s pregnancy, which we deeply appreciated. During our stay, my wife unfortunately misplaced her wedding ring within the hotel. Mr. Kumar went above and beyond to assist us and, with great effort, successfully located it and returned it to us the following day. We are truly grateful for his dedication and support, as this meant a great deal to us. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Kaushal for his kindness, professionalism, and exceptional service. His attitude made our stay much more comfortable and reassuring.🌹🌹❤️ We highly recommend this hotel and sincerely appreciate the outstanding hospitality we received
