My little girl has spent most of her summer at Wild Outdoors due to work commitments and instead of feeling any mum guilt I'm safe in the knowledge she's having the time of her life. As a child who's previously suffered separation anxiety this has been an absolute revelation for us. She comes home each day bursting with enthusiasm and full of stories from the day. It is not ideal to make a 5-year-old play dodgeball when he can't catch a ball, especially when he comes home talking about how many times he was hit. Additionally, failing to stop a boy from poking other kids with a hot branch and reheating it in the fire used for cooking marshmallows can be quite dangerous.

Last year my child tried several holiday clubs in and around Edinburgh and Wild Outdoors was the clear winner and they have been back. They said other holiday clubs eventually got boring and there was lots of time stuck indoors or waiting around. At Wild Outdoors they seem much happier and do not complain of being bored. There seems to be the right balance of structured games and activities to keep them going, along with some freestyle play to use their own ideas (e.g. furnishing their den with a “table” and plants). There is also axe throwing which provides my child an opportunity to scare friends and family with stories of how they launched heavy objects across a field into hunks of wood. All in all, well run and easy to book.
