About The High Flyer
The High Flyer suits visitors after a straightforward, no-fuss stay near the centre of Ely, rather than a grand hotel experience. With just six rooms, it works well for couples or solo travellers exploring the cathedral city and the surrounding Fens, or anyone passing through who wants a comfortable bed and a good meal without much fuss.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, free WiFi and in-room drinks, and the property offers the practical extras that make a short stay easier, including 24 hour reception, laundry service, free on-site parking and meeting rooms for those combining business with a visit. The restaurant is a particular draw, known for its carvery with a generous choice of meats and vegetables, alongside dishes such as Hunter's chicken and fish and chips, served in a cosy setting with attentive staff. It's worth noting the carvery quality has been described as a little inconsistent, though the welcome tends to make up for it.
There's also a bar, snack bar, gym and indoor swimming pool on site, useful for unwinding after a day out. Nearby, guests can find golf, fishing, watersports, and a choice of pubs and restaurants, making the High Flyer a practical base for exploring Ely and the Fens beyond it.

One of the easiest 5 star reviews I've ever given. Reviewing both the food, bar as well as staying here. Best food we've had in Ely. Brilliant carvery, Hunter's chicken also went down well. Fab deserts e.g. Eton Mess and Stickie toffee pudding. Accomodation clean, enough space and affordable. But the standout was for Rachel. One of the most charming and helpful members of staff we've ever encountered. A medic and tattoo advisor among her many talents. I cannot recommend highly enough. Also the cask beer was very well kept.

I spent the weekend and had the best time! The high flyer is in a beautiful and great central location with Nice clean rooms and extra security door, staff that were so lovely and happy to accommodate in any way they could! The roast dinner really was amazing and im so great full to Rachel who made sure I got a table on the Sunday and really looked after me the entire stay! I will be back 100%

Booked for afternoon tea for a birthday treat based on the picture on the internet . Can’t fault staff as young lady on the fone was very helpful , and the lady who came to the table when we said we wanted to leave asked if there was anything she could do to make things better . I’ve never seen an afternoon tea this bad in my life , especially as I booked a week in advance . It looked like they had forgot and knocked it up with what they had . No choice or brown or white bread , although you wouldn’t have eaten them anyway , looked like a child had made them about an hour before , the tops were crispy, dry and starting to curl , shop bought brownie and scones and , something I’ve never had on an afternoon tea before , looked like frozen reheated danish pastries 😬 The tea was in paper packets on the table , like a hotel room , and they brought a teapot of hot water 🤷🏻♀️. It was appalling and I was so disappointed as I booked it for my friend’s birthday ! We left and went elsewhere . Picture on left , what was advertised , £35 for 2 people , picture on right , what we were served ! Would not recommend.

We hosted a surprise 50th birthday party in their private room and we couldn’t have been happier! The food was delicious and Rachel was on hand to ensure our event went smoothly and the surprise worked so well! They allowed us to decorate the room too.. highly recommended to anyone visiting Ely! 💥🥳
