About The Royal Standard

The Royal Standard occupies a three-hundred-year-old building on Fore Hill, close to both the cathedral and the riverside, and combines a working pub and restaurant with five boutique guest rooms above. Rooms are fitted with free WiFi, smart TVs and tea and coffee facilities, and two shared seating areas give guests somewhere to relax beyond their room.

Downstairs, the kitchen serves fresh, locally sourced food ranging from cut-to-order steaks and traditional pub classics to more contemporary dishes, alongside an extensive selection of gins, whiskies, rums, wines and cocktails at the bar.

Its central position on Fore Hill puts guests within a few minutes of the cathedral, market and river, making it a convenient choice for a short stay built around exploring the city on foot and eating well without leaving the building.

Given the strange other pubs visited in Ely, this was by far the most professional, welcoming and normal vibes from start to end. Welcomed when entering the bar, very clean tables, wifi. The prices are a bit higher than other places visited for wine and soft drinks, but you're treated really well here. There's a nice back garden area for sunny days, and a lot of space. There's lots of places for more romantic encounters or listening to a someone to give advice. it's highly recommended for this, as many places in Ely, don't offer the vibe or chance for meaningful interactions to happen. Well done!

Wow what a great pub to visit and eat in. Top notch food upmarket style certainly worth it and well priced fir it's quality and presentation. Pub itself is beautiful and trendy, great stop off point when exploring Ely and accessibility to major car park as well. Great restaurant split off from main bar and fantastic rear garden set up. Can't fault the staff, beer selection or the venue at all, highly recommend
