About The Nyton Guest House

The Nyton is a well-established guest house on Barton Road, set within its own gardens on the edge of Ely and close to the city's golf course. Many of its rooms look out over the grounds towards the cathedral, giving the property a settled, slightly old-fashioned feel that suits guests wanting a quieter alternative to a city-centre hotel.

An on-site restaurant serves a varied menu of home-cooked dishes alongside a selection of wines, and is open to non-residents as well as overnight guests, giving the guest house a following beyond those staying there.

It is around a ten-minute walk from the cathedral and city centre, making it a realistic base for sightseeing on foot while still offering the calmer surroundings of a residential street and private garden.

Dated decor. But. Very clean. Lovely breakfast. Owner and staff I interacted with were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Grounds and garden were very nice. It was good value for money. Looking at some reviews on here some people are expecting the Ritz for not a lot of money to pay for a hotel in a great location and lovely area. Would have no problem using his hotel again.

I don't usually provide negative reviews but I have made a exception in this case. Looking at online reviews we got lots of 5 star and a number of 1 star reviews. We took a chance and regretted it. The owner was away so I can only comment as we found it. No one in reception. Find your own room. Restaurant and resident bar closed. Didn't see any staff until breakfast and the breakfast was good. The room was supposed to be a superior room. If any staff had been around we may well have rejected the room. As you can see there were two "racks" screwed to the ceiling. Possibly to keep it up. Evidence of mould by the bathroom. I don't know if other rooms were better and we were unlucky or not but at £122 a night it is NOT value for money.

Not sure what all the 1 star reviews are about. I found this place great value for money. Good location, close to everything you would want to visit in Ely. Very clean. Family run. Yes there are some quirks in the decor but I find it refreshing compared to staying in a biscuit cutter travelodge

We thought we were on the ground floor but ended up in the attic which was not the best. I will temember to check this out in future. Booked through booking.com so some miscommunication there I think. Lovely rustic comfy small hotel. Clean and very accommodating with good wholesome food. Would stay there again
