About Lime Tree An Ealdhain Hotel

The Lime Tree sits on Achintore Road, a short walk along the loch shore from Fort William's town centre, combining a boutique hotel with a working art gallery housed in the same converted Victorian manse. Rooms are individually styled and comfortably modern, with several looking directly out over Loch Linnhe towards the hills of Ardgour.

The gallery downstairs shows changing exhibitions of Highland landscape art, and the restaurant draws on the same sense of place, serving a seasonal menu built around local seafood, game and vegetables, with a focus on presentation alongside flavour.

Its loch-shore position and short walk into town suit visitors who want easy access to the station, shops and restaurants without staying directly on the High Street, and the gallery gives the hotel a distinct character among Fort William's accommodation.

Location is perfect, close to town center. For the quite steep price the room was a bit dark, small and not well ventilated and service provided was definitely not up to our expectations: No room service, had to ask reception for a roll of toilet paper on our second day. Breakfast buffet is bare minimum (cheapest ingredients), certainly not adequate for the very upscale restaurant. Breakfast service on our second day was not acceptable. I had to go to the kitchen myself to order after waiting for more than 10 minutes (the responsible, but very unmotivated lady seemed to prefer to slowly clean up other tables before even talking to us or serving us coffee)

A great option for staying in Fort William The room was quiet, cosy, and well decorated. There were plenty of plugs, a nice kettle, and a good amount of space for our dogs. The shower was quite stiff and difficult to get the temperature right on, and the pump bottles didn't all work, though it was powerful and spacious. We checked in late, after 10pm, having gotten the train into Fort William, and this wasn't a problem at all. The night porter checked us in without a hitch.

Stayed in 2 bedroom apartment at the back of the hotel. Lovely, warm and cosy which was perfect for our needs after a day on the slopes.

This used to be such a great place, but we had a most underwhelming stay. The bedroom was nicely decorated, but the bathroom in Room 5 was awful—mould stains around the bath, flaking paint, and damp on the windows. Not nice at all. Whole hotel looks a little seedy these days. Breakfast was also disappointing. Considering this is the home of a top-end restaurant, they used the cheapest ingredients and clearly didn't care for quality. This place used to be amazing, but there are so many better options out there these day
