Capel Bethesda - Jasmine Cottage

Gwynedd

Machynlleth and the Centre for Alternative Technology lie within easy reach, as do several nature reserves worth a detour—Ynys Hir, Cors Dyfi with its osprey project, and beaches at Ynyslas and Aberdovey. The immediate setting is what draws most visitors: Jasmine Cottage sits within a traditional chapel grounds in the Dulas valley, where a river runs through the garden and oak woodland across the water forms part of a designated nature site. Paths lead past a gorge and waterfalls toward the villages of Aberllefenni and Corris, making it solid walking territory.

The cottage is ground-floor throughout, converted from part of the chapel building. A double bedroom, bathroom with bath and shower, and open-plan living and kitchen space make efficient use of the footprint. Cooking facilities are full rather than basic—electric cooker, dishwasher and microwave mean you can manage real meals without fuss. The woodburner works with logs provided, slate floors and exposed beams keep the character authentic, and there is a lawned garden with sitting-out furniture. Wifi and parking for one car are included.

One dog or cat can stay free. The property suits couples; children under six months are welcome, but the grounds contain unfenced water and steep banks. The nearest shop, pub and restaurant are two miles away. Check-in is after 4pm, checkout before 10am.
