Porthmadog is a working harbour town on the north Welsh coast, home to the Ffestiniog Railway and within reach of Black Rock Sands, Portmeirion and Harlech Castle. Estuary Flat occupies the ground floor of a property here, a short walk from the town centre, with views across the water from its patio. The single bedroom has a double bed; there is one shower room. An open-plan living and kitchen area means the space feels larger than its footprint, with a patio door opening to a rear garden where you can eat outside.
The kitchen is fully fitted for self-catering, with electric cooking, a fridge and microwave. Freeview television and wifi are provided. Heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included in the booking. There is private parking for one car on site. The flat does not allow smoking.
The beach lies a mile away. The Ffestiniog Railway, which operates heritage steam trains, is nearby. Zip World (zip-lining) and Bounce Below (underground trampolines in a slate cavern) are a short drive inland. The area suits couples and pairs looking for a coastal base with easy access to both relaxation and active pursuits.

What should have been a beautiful place to stay to heal wasn't. The wonderful views were ruined by scaffolding which we were not told about. The outside bench wasn't safe to sit on because it was so rotten. The bathroom was in need of a lot of work with wood coming away and mould which is problematic for asthmatics like myself. The shower was dangerous. Very slippy a miniscule shower mat and no grip. It is poorly laid out so when you walk in for the toilet you literally have to step into the shower to turn around. The trim in the bathroom is rotten and coming away. At night the broken wood was teeming in insects. The bins provided in the rooms all had rust on them. We had to go out and buy a bigger and warmer duvet because the one provided was small thin and inadequate despite the heating being fully on. We also had to buy a larger pan and sharper knives as the ones provided were to dull to cut. The accommodation whilst in a beautiful spot is very tired. This is not suitable for 4 people. If you have any form of disability this is not the accommodation for you. There is no step which is needed especially at the rear. The flooring in the living area is extremely slippery so care needs to be taken. Locking the front door was also an issue as the lock needs replacing. I cannot recommend this property at all. We were advised to contact STS with problems but when we did there was no answer. This was not a comfortable stay. I have stopped in other apartments on the complex and this is by far the worse.
