South Snowdon Wharf

Photo: Carl R. Hussey

Porthmadog sits where the Glaslyn estuary meets Cardigan Bay, surrounded by Snowdonia's mountains and within reach of both the Ffestiniog Railway and Snowdonia National Park itself. South Snowdon Wharf occupies the waterfront here, and this second-floor apartment looks straight out over the water. The location puts you near enough to walk to the town's shops and restaurants, yet far enough removed to feel genuinely quiet.

The apartment contains a living room with smart TV and large windows framing the view, a bedroom with a kingsize bed, and a shower room with heated towel rail. The kitchen is compact but functional—electric oven, hob and microwave mean you can cook properly if you want to. A balcony overlooks the estuary. Wifi, bed linen, towels and heating are all included; there is parking for one car on site. The entrance involves 29 steps to the second floor. Adults only.

The Ffestiniog Railway station is nearby for steam train journeys through Snowdonia. Portmeirion, the Italianate village famous for its architecture and gardens, is a short drive away. For walking, climbing or simply exploring the mountains, Snowdonia National Park is accessible from here without a long journey.

Visited many times to stay on flats. Felt this time that area was looking a little run down and many properties could have done with external repairs and painting. Views are still great over estuary and The Cob. A great location but we might think of staying elsewhere next time we visit Porthmadoc.

Beautiful apartment complex due to the peace and quiet as it is siuated between two water inlets. When the water goes out it is like staying on a nature reserve. The steam train is part of the wharf but is not noisy.

Such a lovely, peaceful, quaint place with very special mountain views etc. A calming atmosphere as you experience a bygone era. Step back in time to how life used to be with the railways etc. Porthmadog always makes for a great visit! :)

Great place to stay in Porthmadog, especially if you get an apartment with views of the estuary. Every apartment has an allocated parking space & the development is very conveniently located for both the town centre & the Ffestiniog/Welsh Highland railways.
