You arrive into an open-plan living space with everything on one level—living area, kitchen, bedroom and shower room flowing together so nothing feels cramped. Glass doors open onto a patio where you can sit out. The bedroom has a king-size bed; the shower room is compact but functional. The kitchen has what you need to cook properly: electric oven, hob and microwave alongside the usual basics. Wifi, heating and towels are all sorted.

This is ground-floor accommodation at Snowdon Wharf in Porthmadog, a working harbour town at the foot of Snowdonia. The estuary views mean you're close to water, and there's parking for one car on site. One dog stays free. Smoking is not permitted.

The location works for different kinds of breaks. Black Rock Sands is nearby—miles of flat beach and dunes. Portmeirion, the ornate Italianate village, is a short drive away, as is Harlech with its castle and long beach. Inland, Blaenau Ffestiniog has Zip World and other adventure attractions. The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Steam Railway runs from Porthmadog itself. The area has walking routes, mountain-bike trails and water sports scattered across it.
