About Windmill Hill Meadows
Tucked away down quiet lanes about a mile from Windmill Hill village, this tranquil farm campsite offers a genuine escape into 1066 country and the High Weald. The 250-acre working farm runs an equestrian centre and provides two camping meadows: smaller, secluded Broomy (though low cars may find access tricky) and the more open, easier-to-reach Bridletrack. Both sit in peaceful surroundings with ancient bridleways threading through nearby woodlands—follow one north and Herstmonceux Castle's turrets emerge romantically through the trees after a short walk.
Facilities are deliberately simple: portaloos, locally made firepits for hire, and firewood supplies. It's ideal for campers who value stunning scenery and quiet over bells and whistles, though some may find the basics a touch sparse. Dogs are welcome year-round, but keep livestock and passing walkers in mind. Hailsham lies ten minutes away for shops and services, while the East Sussex coast beckons just beyond.

What visitors say
It was ok…. Rooms are basic and small but I don’t think that matters too much at this type of event. Staff were friendly but at times seemed over the top (one followed us around for an hour after an activity, saying she had too- we were going back to our room) zip line was fun but second activity was a blindfold walk in among some trees- a group of 6/7 years were bored after 10 minutes. The worst part of the weekend was the food. Every meal was practically inedible. Fortunately we were able to order deliver as did a lot of people in our group. This was not even canteen food it was horrendous
