Highland Club - Abbey Church 20

Photo: Highland Club Scotland

Abbey Church 20 occupies the third floor of a listed building that was once St Benedicts Abbey. You arrive into a living room and kitchen on one level, then descend three steps into a dining area with seating for six. The main bedroom has a kingsize bed and an ensuite with bath and shower; the second bedroom contains two singles and is served by a second bathroom. Everything is furnished to a high standard and retains original sandstone pillars throughout. The kitchen is fully equipped—electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave—so you can cook as much or as little as you like. There is a washer-dryer on the property, and wifi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included.

The apartment sits within 20 acres of private grounds near Loch Ness in Fort Augustus. On-site you'll find a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, tennis court and small gym, all free to use but booked in advance on arrival. There's also a children's playground, football goals, snooker and pool tables, and table tennis available to guests. Two cars can park on site. The setting makes a good base for exploring the Highlands, and the location itself—a converted abbey surrounded by historic architecture and countryside—is part of the appeal. No smoking is permitted in the apartment.

Loved this place. Beautiful old monastery with swimming pool, games room and giant chess. We stayed in the Sacristy and it had everything you could possibly need with direct access to Loch Ness. The bed were super comfy too! 100% recommend.

Not a guest here. I'm just here to leave my favorite picture of my holiday. The building looks magical like it's part of Hogwarts Castle. It was a slight shame that the added buildings are not in the same style as the rest of the monastery.
